We booked a table for 30th June at 7pm, when arriving (should be open from 6pm) restaurant was closed, after contacting Clark Adams he thought that he has contacted all people who has reserved due to cooker problems, i read this also in another rezension, so cannot recommend it.

My husband and me dined here tonight.
OMG the food was amazing! Fillet steak, cooked to perfection. My king prawn curry delicious. Chef asked how I hot I wanted it.
He was a fellow Scot. Server or owner, not sure. She was lovely and welcoming.
An amazing wee place.

This restaurant is a little gem, right in the heart of Grasmere village. The food is cooked fresh to order and delicious. We were lucky enough to have the whole restaurant to ourselves by the end of our meal. Would highly recommend to everyone. Very welcoming.

A hidden gem. Nice food and large portions. Service was fast and friendly, and the chef kept coming out and asking if everything was OK.
Lovely place, friendly service, and don't miss the puddings

What an experience, Clarke the Chef is an absolute legend couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Linda at front of house was an absolute darling. Will be back 100000%. This is a gem of a place.

Lovely meal here on Wednesday night. The Beef Stroganoff and Sweet and Sour King Prawns were delicious, freshly cooked. Very friendly service and the chef came out for a chat. Can't fault it, really surprised at the negative reviews on here. This was my second visit, excellent meal.on both occasions.

Food is nice, but not particularly great value for money.
Atmosphere used to be great, but last time I visited it had gone downhill, with several of large storage containers and barrels of cooking oil left in corners of the restaurant.
Service was fine from my own experience, but I noticed the waitress turned away some people who had asked for a table and then was quite rude about it suggesting ?It?s ridiculous for them to just turn up and expect to get a table? - to be honest the restaurant was quite quiet so I?m unsure what the fuss was about.
Kid-friendliness: Fine for kids, although not loads of space.

Hmmm, where to start. There was no one else in the restaurant, the service was ok and certainly not attentive, the food was microwaved, and the ambience was non existent without any other diners and no background music. I have no idea why Goody Blakes has received any good reviews. Everything the poor reviews say was our experience too. We kept a sense of humour though and chalked it up to experience.

After reading the menu we were excited to come to this restaurant as it had so much choice and a bit of everything for everyone in our party. If I could give this 0 stars I would, we sat down in what was a very awkward atmosphere. The place was completely empty when we arrived and were coldly greeted and sat at our table, at first we put this down to a quirk and were given drinks menus. The boys asked for a lager beer, however were presented with limited options - they chose 2 different ones and were served them. We ordered a bottle of Rioja red wine which was £27 and were horrified to to be served Campo Viejo which we both regularly drink at home and retails for around £8 per bottle. We were absolutely furious at this point but as it was uncorked we decided to just drink it and put it down to being a small restaurant in Grasmere. We all ordered starters which were mediocre and I am almost positive my mussels came out of a pre-prepared packet you get in the shops and some of them were rank to the point I decided to stop eating them to avoid any food poisoning.Whilst we were waiting for our mains one of the chefs actually went to a chest freezer in the corner of the restaurant hidden by wooden dividers to retrieve vegetables from again, I don?t expect every piece of my meal to be freshly prepared however this was just starting to take the mick. The mains were okay, most of it was from frozen and prepackaged food which was incredibly disappointing considering the cost of the meal which totalled to £150.Would not recommend as they are clearly taking advantage of guests on holiday by buying in bulk frozen food and cheap wine off the shelves to sell at over triple the price and the atmosphere, service and staff were all very weird - if I could give 0 stars I would.
