Nent Hall hotel would not suit everyone. It is in a gorgeous location surrounded by stunning scenery but the building is old and a bit tired. The staff were great, helpful, pleasant and keen to ensure the place ran smoothly. The room was comfortable though old fashioned and the shower over the bath was hot and powerful. Sadly the room smelt damp and the bathroom was in need of a refit. So if you want sleek, modern or high end then avoid Nent Hall but if, like me, you're comfortable with outdated, old fashioned and needing some input then you will fall in love with the place. I firmly intend to go back with my dog, yes it's dog friendly but my friend would not book there again.

A lovely place, full of character, now run by Romanians.Friendly, helpful staff who are more than willing to go the extra mile for their guests.A fantastic stay - certain to be repeated in the near future. Also, exceptionally good value.Rooms: Supremely comfortable beds. Bath & shower en suite with as much hot water as you can use.Food & drinks: Nice pub fare at a very reasonable price for the evening meal.Cooked breakfast included in the room price making this venue even better value.

My wife & I stopped overnight here a couple of weeks ago - and were very happy we had! This was the first time we'd taken the A689 en route to Scotland, and I expect we'll do it again. A lovely scenic route! We arrived too late in the evening for dinner, but received a warm welcome on arrival and help to take our luggage to the room - which was an upgrade to a four-poster bed. Comfortable, but quite compact. The following morning, breakfast was fantastic! Generous and well cooked "full English", as well as help-yourself to a range of "continental" options and coffee.(We tried to book again on our return the following weekend, but prices had almost doubled from 1 week to the next! Don't know why this should be...)

Arrived during thunderstorm greeted with towels and buckets catching leaks in front hall.I noticed a letter was missing from hotel sign and the weatherboard above the entrance was rotting away. Should have turned around right then.Do owners not know first impressions matter and cause a customer to worry at the state of the kitchen. There was a damp feel to the interior and our room felt damp the bed linen was damp to touch. It was late we were tired so we stayed .I have a serious lung condition so woke up feeling very unwell. The staff were ok and the food fine. The reason for the leaks was obvious the gutters were growing crops and there were several missing slateson the roof. Why doesnt the owner sell and let someone interested takeover because the building is dying and the business can only follow

A traditional English country hotel in a very rural location. We were given a smart four poster bed room at the rear of the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful and there was a wide ranging and reasonably priced dinner menu. Breakfast was cooked to order. A non slip bath mat would have been appreciated for we older users.

The evening meal, fish and chips that got served up was over cooked and very oily with cold anaemic chips. It seemed that some of the bar staff didn?t really want to be there and didn?t care about the food that was being served up. It?s not cheap either. Very disappointed.

Just called in for some food. They were busy and we hadn't booked but were accommodated without issue. The food was excellent and service very good. Will visit again.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my partner and was satisfied. I?d have happily stayed longer. The hotel is pretty much as described and has been maintained to a good standard. Our bedroom was a decent size with a comfortable bed and was perfectly quiet. The bathroom needs refreshing at some point but is more then adequate - nothing to complain about. We had an evening meal in the pub which was a reasonable price and acceptable standard with a wide choice of dishes including veggie and GF. There was a full English breakfast included plus cereals and yogurts and fruit plus other cooked options including veggie. Some items had been cooked quite a while earlier so not the best but acceptable. This place is not perfect but I?ve read some rather unfair reviews. Overall a good value stay in an amazing area - I?d be happy to stay again.

Came in last minute with my husband and 3 children as we were stopping a night in the neighbouring village. Waitress was very polite and came to the table to take our order, she made good conversation with us and the children which is always nice. The food was spectacular, good options, price and the lamb shank was superb.

My third visit to Nent. I've always had excellent service, cheerful staff and good food. I'm always a bit frustrated by how early food orders close, 8/8.15pm is a bit early for a weekend, to me.... but can't fault what we had and the wine was excellent! I take on board the reviews who say the decor is dated. It is 'meant' to be to some extent! Yes it could definitely do with some love and care, but I find it clean, tidy, a fab safe place to bring dogs (mind overnight in the car) and I'd not hesitate to recommend it ..... but without trying to pretend it's a £160 luxury establishment! Breakfast is fab personally! If microwaves ping! Then so be it! Tasted perfectly good! I'll be back.
