“I wanted to say thank you to the lady from the shop who helped me yesterday when I was in an autistic meltdown (loss of emotional control due to being overwhelmed resulting in emotional and/or aggressive behaviour) aggravated by low sugar level.I wear my sunflower band to denote that I might need help and support when in meltdown and overwhelm. It hurt me however that the other gentleman from the shop snatched forcefully can of coke from my hand and when I tried to explain about autism and my band and , low sugar level he said he could wear 20 bands like this and it wouldn't mean anything to him and he didn't care.Learning from this I'm going to have Autism passport with me with directions for a bystanders as this is a protected characteristic and severe disability.People with severe Autism are extremely vulnerable and I write this for awareness. Many autistic people commit or attempt to commit suicide because of such treatment and bullying and lack of understanding. This is not a criticism but a plea to be kind and understanding. I understand that this shop and local people had not great experiences but painting every Hiker/tourist with one brush and jumping on them in the name of closing ranks of the local community is just unkind and may result in harm.I understand the emotional aspect of tourism and its intrusion on the local community but people should be able to roam as in my case to heal following four years of abuse and bullying. This situation pushed me to the edge and I was crying the rest of the day and the next day I was anxious to leave bed and interact with people. I'm afraid that there will be others who will not help me when I will disclose my disability despite it being protected by law. I feel that all my 56 days of walking were in vain as all the past abuse came back as this heartless behaviour triggered past trauma I was trying to recover from.I understand that not realising about autism my reaction to the gentleman in shop may have looked bad but I think instead of judging we should be just kind and ask whether someone is okay perhaps?I was pleading this man to sell me can of coke as I needed to level my sugar up and prevent full meltdown yet he was heartless. The lady sold me the can and was very kind and for that I am grateful.Let us just be kind, not jumping to conclusions as there are other conditions that may result in changed behaviours such as Diabetes and Epilepsy. My message is please be kind.”

“This shop is fantastic and all the staff are friendly and so helpful. They all perform a great service and treat everyone as a valued customer. All bad reviews on here are from ignorant people who refuse to follow covid guidelines and don't like being told to conform. They are the ones at fault not the staff who are doing a difficult job in difficult times. I salute each and everyone of you. As I could not do your job. I love you all . Big hugs and thanks xx”
