Well worth a visit as an alternative to NT. There was no house to visit as this was sold off but extensive zoned gardens to explore. The jungle area was my favourite. Allow plenty of time.Playground: There are plenty of dedicated areas for youngsters to playDog-friendliness: Dog friendlyPicnic area: Plenty of seats dotted around, and many dedicated food outlets

Great place to visit. Beautiful gardens. We had a lovely day exploring. It was beautiful on the first day of spring, I could imagine it being stunning in the summer.

Went in March when everything wasn't quite in bloom yet. Can't wait to go again and see everything in its glory. Highly reccommend!

Called in today to discover that digging work was going on in the car park, which was causing parking chaos. Informed the listless reception staff, and was told it "Wasn't their problem." Excuse me, but if people are having trouble parking to get into YOUR tourist attraction, I rather think it IS your problem. You need to sort it out, and not just tell me you only have parking staff in the summer.

I first visited the gardens in 2002 and at every opportunity go back. Left deserted at the end of the 1st World War it was rediscovered in 1990 by John Willis and Tim Smith. Taking approximately 4 hours to traverse, it is both dog and wheel/push chair friendly. A wonderful and educational day out for all the family. Don?t miss it.

One of my favourite gardens in Britain. Awesome early spring camellia and rhododendron flowering.

Great place to visit, the only slight negative was we had lunch towards the end of their lunch hour and "Specials" were sold out as was at least one of the menu options. We didn't eat there the following day.

FANTASTIC day out for a family. The play area is insanely good (the only thing that could improve it is proper coffee at the hut there). You can easily spend half a day here walking round and the cafes and garden centre are also brilliant.
