I don?t usually leave reviews but was so upset by the way we were treated at The Cornwall, that I feel I have to leave this review. This is the email I sent with no response so I?ll post it here instead:I am unfortunately emailing to bring to your attention the disappointing experience I, and my family, had at The Cornwall Hotel and Spa today.Me and my partner, Sam, are getting married in 2025 at the Eden Project. We were looking at somewhere locally for ourselves and our guests to stay on our wedding night and the night before. My parents visited The Cornwall recently and spoke to a very helpful lady called Chelsea on reception, who showed them around and made them feel very welcome. They recommended us to come and see for ourselves as they believed The Cornwall would be a perfect hotel for us to stay for our wedding.I had liaised recently via email with Jenny, Marketing Manager and had arranged to be shown around after an afternoon tea at The Cornwall today, 24/03/24, at 14:00.We arrived at that time and spoke to the woman on reception who we explained the above to. She told us to go and have the afternoon tea and someone should be able to show us around after. We walked into the afternoon tea hall and were met with? no one! We waited by the ?Please wait here to be seated? sign, but no one came. I walked to the bar and I asked the waitress if we had a set table to sit at. She abruptly told us to sit at the free table in the dining hall and carried on unloading the dishwasher. We sat down, confused at her demeanour, and she came over later to take our order. Her general attitude was pretty rude throughout the service, she made us feel very unwelcome. We finished the food and I went to pay the bill. We were charged the full price which I queried, as we were told that locals got a discount on the afternoon teas. My bill was rectified and we headed to the reception to be shown around.I spoke to a different receptionist this time and she said she was aware of our desire to view the rooms/amenities, but that no one was available to show us around. She also said if we wanted to wait for a few hours until 5pm, then a porter would be able to show us around. I wouldn?t normally have an issue as I understand how busy hospitality can get, but on a quiet Sunday where not even the first car park was filled, I was surprised that even after all the forewarning we gave, that no one was prepared to give us a quick look around. We were planning on booking a room not only for ourselves, but for at least 15 of our wedding guests. We have family travelling down for our wedding day, and if today had gone well, we were prepared to advise all of our other guests to stay with you also, so it may have been more.We will definitely NOT be staying with The Cornwall after today?s disrespect, and hope our experience offers some insight as to where your venue can improve its service. We are so disappointed with the service we received from a local hotel.

We stayed here on an extension to our honeymoon. The rooms and facilities are modern and spacious. The spa and gym are well equipped and of a high standard. The food and restaurant service however didn't quite match our expectations, breakfast felt rushed and our table was cleared before we had finished, and we didn't particularly enjoy our evening meal either. That being said the duty manager dealt with the table clearing incident very well.

very nice location the country side after a long journey. Arrived and greated by a nice lady on reception who quickly checked us in and booked us in for dinner. Room was overall very nice and clean, Small living area and a nicely sized bathroom. Bed was also very comfortable. Visted the gym while staying and it is decently set up with plenty of different bits of kit. Dinner in the resturant was okay. Ordered a margarita pizza which was a bit strange compared to what i have had before. Came with whole slices of tomato which seemed unusual and wasnt great for me as i dont like whole tomatos. Tasted okay but nothing special. slept very well. Breakfast was also very good. Overall, a perfect stay.

I would love to be able to give our stay more than overall 3 star, however we were quite let down with the service we experienced in our evening, as well as the following morning. All went well upon checking in, chucking our things in our room and briefly using the spa facilities before we enjoyed the ?happy hour? between 5-6pm at the hotel bar. We had our dinner reservation booked for 7:15, but unfortunately the service was very slow and we became very frustrated. We are not ones to complain usually but all tables around us were also complaining so really brought down the ambience. It took a while to even get a drink served and then ordering just our starters and main. The food was really nice once it had been served but we almost didn?t enjoy all 3 courses because it took a long time to receive each one. The table behind us waiting 45-50 minutes to receive their main. The next morning we had someone painting literally around our door frame which we felt our privacy had been slightly disrupted. We felt like this could have been done after we checked out before new guests could have checked in.The breakfast ?included? was somewhat nice however I did find some of the fruit and breads that were described on the menu as ?fresh? were not, and were dry and stale so skipped over.I would somewhat recommend elements to others but I wasn?t blown away by the stay and wouldn?t stay again.

Very clean and spacious room on 2nd floor so lovely view over grounds. Friendly and welcoming reception staff.Fantastic soap facilities and adequate gym. Breakfast buffet limited but the cooked breakfast and coffee great.Walkability: Nice short walk around estate. Not really convenient to walk into St. Austell.

Bloody lovely afternoon tea, couldn't tell I had the gluten-free option ? will definitely recommend it to anyone and will come back. It's such a shame that I am having to redo this after such a positive experience last year. The table was too small for the 10 of us and consequently was very cramped. The service was very slow, as if we were an afterthought. The gluten-free option ended up with a standard sausage roll. Not enough hot tea is available. The food was very good but for the price not worth it. We just didn't feel the love this time.

Food & drinks: Really disappointed, booked it for Sunday carvery for friends 60th as I had been a few times before ,really didn't like the room we were in like a staff canteen, no table cloths, tables not laid up really just knives and forks and cheap paper napkins, nothing like the lovely laid tables downstairs, and you are paying the same price so should get the same service. I was embarrassed as I had said how lovely it was there .Food was OK well carvery was nice pudding not so good ,one didn't arrive till the rest of us had finished and was inedible when it did ,Staff doing there best but obviously not been trained properly yet as slow clearing tables ,and didn't even get offered coffee .Won't be rushing back again as really loved it before .

The room was lovely and very clean, the spa was wonderful and the therapists made sure we had the most relaxed time possible during and after our massage. All facilities were kept very clean and tidy and the staff were always happy to help. The evening meal, the service was very slow (40 mins for drinks) and the food was not what you would expect for the price (or the hour wait). Breakfast was lovely, very quick service and a great filling full English. Overall a lovely experience.

We have just had an amazing night's stay, rooms where amazing and very clean! The facilities were top notch as well we spent a lot of time in the pool and spa area which again very clean!, and when we had dinner in the evening the food was to die for very well presented and amazing taste, we had Brandon and Dan serving us Saturday night and both were very polite and attentive, would definitely recommend this place for a weekend or even a night away facilities are awesome

Stayed here for our baby moon and Sarah at the reception could not have been nicer. She really made our stay perfect.Food & drinks: Wouldn't recommend the breakfast as for £12 it was mostly cold and not worth the money
