Mothers Day package was great? apart from a few minor niggles. Staff are lovely and helpful, and the back and shoulder massage by Erin exceptional. Felt truly pampered and relaxed! We enjoyed the pool and spa too, however we were disappointed that the jacuzzi was almost the same temperature as the swimming pool and had little to no bubbles. Signs everywhere asking guests not to leave robes and personal property on chairs in order to ?reserve? them, but this was not at all ?enforced? See posted photo. I did feel the lovely views from the pool would have also been vastly improved had the large windows not been quite so dirty. Beautiful roast lunch, tasted home cooked rather than frozen , out of the packet veggies etc and the yorkshire puds were again delicious! The service was quick and staff friendly and attentive. We sat outside to finish our meal, but shocked to find several small pieces of glass all over our table. However, a very pleasant Mothers Day all in all, and will definetely return.

We booked for the afternoon tea it was disappointing the little bite sized cakes where very dry as were the sandwiches ,they were obviously been prepared and set out early and uncovered the scones over baked and dry ,the china had seen better days but I suppose the considerable amount of use they get would explain that ...for the price I expected a more quality experience on the food front ,on a positive the staff were attentive and polite .

We recently stayed at this hotel. Experience was not very pleasant. Water was too hot in the shower.even though maintenance came multiple times it wasn?t fixed.we were told the manager come to speak to us but nobody came to speak to us.
After spending 2 nights, during checkout the reception didn?t have a clue about the situation which looked like left hand doesn?t speak to the right hand.

AVOID - Booking Cancelled
Booked one of the lodges for our summer holiday through orginalcottages.co.uk Then had a phone call three months later to say the all the properties on the site have been withdrawn. Dont take bookings that you do not honour.

We booked a one-night spa break on Feb 12th, expecting a relaxing stay?unfortunately, it was anything but.
Our suite was filthy: hairs in the bed, sink, and bath, black mould on the shower curtain, and thick dust everywhere. Reception offered us a downgrade or a re-clean, and we reluctantly took the downgrade?without any refund for the price difference. The new room wasn?t much better: broken heating, a slanted bed, a faulty fridge, no bedside plugs, and a bath that wouldn?t drain. For a so-called luxury hotel, basic amenities were shockingly neglected.
The only highlight was the spa?excellent massages and a beautiful pool with garden views.
The restaurant, however, was a complete disaster. Afternoon tea took over an hour to arrive, and my partner?s severe tomato allergy was ignored, with two of three sandwiches containing tomato. Dinner dragged on for three hours due to slow service, and the food was wildly inconsistent?some decent starters, but overcooked steak and a sickly rich braised beef. Breakfast was the final insult: canned fruit, stale pastries, burnt coffee (extra charge!), and a disgusting Eggs Royale with salmon that wasn?t fresh.
Customer service was abysmal, with staff who were inattentive, untrained, and visibly uninterested. The hotel grounds and spa were beautiful, but everything else was unacceptable. We left more stressed than when we arrived. Would not recommend and won?t be returning.
Rooms: dirty, dated and cold
Food and drinks: disgusting food

Spent an extended weekend with my Wife in the Cornwall Spa hotel in St Austel. The service was very good. Rooms are large .. comfortable .. and clean. And the Spa facilities were very good and especially enjoyed the swimming, particularly as the water is kept lovely and warm.
The food, breakfast and dinner included in our deal was all OK. Breakfast English and continental buffets .. we're well cooked and stocked. The menu choice was a little limited. The evening menu was again somewhat limited and Bei g a little fussy, I struggled to find meals I liked. However, The staff were very accommodating which helped greatly. I would recommend The Cornwall as it was a very pleasant and relaxing stay, central to most things to see and do in Cornwall.
As with many places, a couple of minor niggles such as running out of tea sugar and milk and toilet rolls.. tissues which required us to ask. It would have been better if the staff stocked up daily where required.

The worst Afternoon Tea experience ever and trying to discuss this with any member of staff hits a brick wall.
The tea provided didn't match the description on the website or the menu. The content was miniscule, dried up finger sandwiches and a laughable selection of cakes the size of a thimble. Staff were too busy to actually serve in the tea room apparently.

Stayed with my family from Thursday last week till Sunday in the lodges, even payed extra £300 to upgrade to a hot tub lodge, but boy what a waste of money. The hot tub wasn't used on 1st day cause we arrived around 7pm and was tired travelling from London, then next day when me and my sisters used it it was sooooo cold!! We called reception they said no one can help at this time and she apologised and said she will "do something" upon check out and call someone for next day to come see, the guy came next day, said he fixed it, we once again got excited to go in that night, what happened? Same thing very cold. So it was a horrible experience, we didn't get any money back for that or even just a follow up call to ask, the lodge itself was ok... had a look in dishwasher there was old peas laying around, the fridge tray kept falling down causing everything we put to fall and spill. The parking could of been better, closer, overall there's so many other lodges and spa in beautiful Cornwall, before taking a chance and booking here please look elsewhere because honestly we didn't have a relaxing time and we spent almost £900 just for 3 days there which was utterly not worth that price. (And in the winter )
Noteworthy details: Horrible experience

I had a afternoon tea in April 2024, it was amazing, I was so impressed I took 2 friends today, I was so disappointed, the quality and quantity had gone down hill, the cakes and sandwiches were dry the scones were over cooked the only good think was the cup of tea.

We stayed 5 nights in a room in the main house, the room was very comfortable and 5 great night's sleep were had. Our room had a roll top bath, fast really hot water which made it wonderful for soaking in - not so good as a shower though. The service was good, we did have one complaint about service in the restaurant, our concerns were heard, given time, and solved to our satisfaction. As a base for visiting Eden project, Gardens of Helegan and the many sights of Cornwall, I would recommend this hotel. If you want to stop and rest, the spa and swimming pool will easily occupy you for your stay.
