Chapel Porth beach remains largely unchanged since I first came here 60 years ago. Seen at it's best, visit on either blue sunny days, or on a windy winters day when the surf is at its spectacular best. At high tide, it's hard to believe there is a huge magnificent sandy beach under the water, with lots of caves and rock pools to explore. The tiny car park managed by the National Trust soon fills up but when it's full, parking elsewhere involves a long downhill walk on narrow roads, so get there early after checking the tide times first. There is a little cabin at the top of the car park where you can buy snacks soft drinks and ice creams, but it's not open all year round.

Super round trip walk through the coastal mining heritage and down the steep rocky path to Chapel Porth beach. The tide was on the way in so we had time to explore the caves and mess around in the many sea pools. Then it was time to hit the path and meander up through the lovely path of Chapel Coombe collecting blackberries to make jelly and cordial.Please note: There is a small car park at Chapel Porth and it gets very busy. Please do not park on the road as you will hinder emergency services arriving if necessary. There are facilities at this beach and the infamous hedgehog ice cream :-)

There are a lot of firsts here for me. First time i ever did body boarding, first ever cornish beach visit, first dip in the cornish sea, first cornish cliff walk, First and only hedgehog and first time joining the national trust. In the 30 odd years since not much has changed at Chapel Porth sure the car park now has a machine but the national trust guy/girl is still there. Car-parking is not as tight as it was when the old original national trust chap guided people to their spaces and made sure there were no huge gaps between cars.The cafe has improved its selection of goods and it always seems busy no matter when you visit. The only thing which seems to be in decline is their hedgehog?s, sadly I can no longer eat them due to lactose issues however my wife and brother in-law love them and we regularly go ice cream hunting all over and the hedgehog is always fair game. That said at Chapel Porth time was you were given quite a large ice cream with clotted cream full of nuts. Over the years though as times have changed and prices rise so the hedgehog has changed and has now sadly shrunk somewhat no doubt also due to rising costs and peoples pocket preferences and although I am Informed they are still delicious they are now really a shadow of their former selves.

Limited spaces, can fill up very quick when great its great weather . Nice beach with plenty off walks around the area . Wheal Coats 10 minute walk away.

Like most of the Beaches in Cornwall, this one is stunning. Care should be taken that you don't get cut off on the sandy beach at HighTide.The mine working buildings are interesting, and more information would have made the visit better.The little coffee stall is very well run and worth a try.Parking is free for members of the National Trust, a single track road with passing places leads down to the beach.

Beautiful tranquil beach and lovely coves. Fantastic hedgehog ice-cream from the cafe shop on the carpark. A real gem. Highly recommended.Restrooms: Clean toilets

Lovely spot with national trust car park, toilets and little cafe. Dogs are banned between 1st July til 31st August between 10am to 6pm (see sign in photo).

Amazing NT people, fan location and no phone signal to annoy the parents! The kids love it. It opens up at lower ride into miles of golden sands. The photo shows the view from our beach shelter. Don't forget the famous Hedgehog Ice-cream!

Tried to come here in the summer but gave up as too popular! So tried again in October unfortunately tide was in so couldn't walk on the beach really. I haven't been here for over 20 years and thankfully had not changed a bit.
