We?ve been coming back to Retallack for annual family holidays for the last few years, mainly for the great location, price and service - but sadly this will be our final visit.
The last couple of times we have stayed we?ve noticed a real fall in the quality of their accommodation. On the surface the lodges are modern, and perfect for a family break - but once you spend longer than an hour there you?ll encounter broken furniture, faulty light fittings, damp, doors that come off their hinges, and dodgy radiators. You?ll also struggle to cook or eat a meal given that most of the utensils have seemingly gone walk about over the years and not been replaced? that is unless the staff really expect you to travel with your own kitchen knives, scissors, chopping boards, and even mugs.
It is a real shame, as the location is exceptional, but the failings have now sadly outweighed the positives. So unless you?re prepared to travel with your DIY toolkit, and pack everything except the kitchen sink, stay elsewhere.

We had a few days here for my brother's golden wedding anniversary. The location was very nice, as were the lodges. But they were let down by a number of niggly faults. Firstly, the hot tub was faulty and wasn't able to be used for the 2 fine days we were there. The oven had a fault and didn't fully work, the blind in my bedroom dropped to pieces when I tried to close it...and various other things. These were dealt with promptly by the staff, who were very helpful and pleasant, but, sadly, we had too many problems to make it an enjoyable stay. It seemed lacking in general maintenance.

Beautiful resort, very secluded lodges we're spotless and stunning with amazing views, had minor issues like one of the curtain blinds broke but this was fixed within ten minutes of reporting. Lodge had minor issues as well like slight peeling of the wood on one of the baths but nothing at all to deter the holiday. Really peaceful. Only slightly let down by the manager who wasn't really accommodating but this was a one off and still will definitely visit again.
Rooms: Spotless, loads of space for clothes etc, just check bedroom layouts as the double bed outweigh the twins. Microwaves, farm sink, big fridge freezer, two ovens. Only downside was they don't provide a lot of cooking supplies but you can ask and they can bring you more.
Nearby activities: Loads of beaches 10,20 minutes away, towns to explore, restaurants nearby, superstores down the road, artisan village nearby, family activities as well as adult activities
Walkability: Really easy to walk around mostly all flat surfaces and as it's all spaced out it's easy to find location. Was able to run around park

Lodge was great but service was hit and miss. Shabby around the water park and the swimming pool. Very poor shop on site. Needs to wake its ideas up. Its not enough to heavily market properties for sale at eye watering prices but then poor quality facilities.

We booked 12 months in advance due family wedding from New Zealand and family from australia arriving.
DAyS befor we were contacted about going in 2 6berth accomadation. This would be quite useless due to the family arriving and who we wanted to have time with.
Eventually after much heartache we wer informed it was ok and our accomadation was back on.
I'm sure this was wrong the beautiful lake we should have been overlooking was absent were had it gone?
We even had a digger outd
Side instead in front os somestream no lakeside.
On viewing the other lodges they were much cleaner then ours even to the downstairs patio door which were filthy.
Between the sheds wer empty boxes of rubbish not removed.
When we booked we expected a 5star holiday park with well located facilities. Charming views, and logged of a high quality. Unfortunately this was all sadly lacking. We wer extremely disappointed especially as it was an occasion we can never have backk again
I dont think you could ever compensate for the desolation and disappointment at this family wedding. I have never in all my 78yrs had to complain about so many things. It was unkempt and in a totally different area than we were promised and we especially asked for a bed room in the ground floor due to disability but we were put in a lodge with kitchen and lounge downstairs. So we had to carry her up and down which was embarrassing for her.
Cant say we would ever come again unless you had a serious upgrade to the standard of a comadayion and you employed some conscientious cleaners willing to do their work eith an essence of self pride
I would never recommend your holiday park to and future guests. You need a good manager who wants yo get things done including the moldy outside furniture in our lodge and my daughters
If you need any mor details dont hesitate to call
It was a great disappointment felt I was living in students quarters.
Not grown up accomodation
Yours xxLadyJean ,
Rooms: Cruffed walls needed painting especially stairs 3 flights
Nearby activities: Were was it?
Safety: Digger digging outside Patio doors.
Walkability: Living in a field away from the lake and any other lodges with chain fencing out of front window
Food and drinks: Didnt find any.
Noteworthy details: Do not come if you can avoid it.

Water park is now tiny and nothing like the advertised pictures. Adrenaline Quarry is so much better for a similar price.

Remote location and nothing nearby, perfect for switching off. The house we had oversaw others but was warm and comfortable.
The on-site pub was basic and the food was average.

Overall, brilliant. The staff are great but very young and sometimes a bit inexperienced. Would recommend for a family holiday.

Great location, 15 minutes from beautiful beaches, 14 minutes drive from Tesco, b and m, 30 minutes (depending on traffic) from Newquay (good luck parking).
We stayed in one of the lodges (lodge 209) great lodge and you can see my review of that on their Google maps page.
There is a restaurant (quite pricey) but nice food, small shop for essentials, a water park with a small cafe attached, flow rider surfing machine.
All the staff we encountered were nice.
Couple of minor bad points:
The road signage around the resort is confusing and signs will point you one way and then at the next fork disappear... We ended up at a pond behind where we were trying to get to and so did multiple other people.
The place is a little tired now and could probably do with a refresh.
When walking around on the green areas you may almost break your ankles on what I assume is either drainage ditches/holes where cables were laid and not properly back filled.
Nearby activities: Flow rider near main reception, water park on site also. There is a large slip n slide round the corner, owl and bird of prey sanctuary nearby.
Beaches 15 minutes away.
Walkability: No footpaths, and the road from the lodges to reception has small grass verges but the cars go pretty fast down there.
When walking around on the green areas you may almost break your ankles on what I assume is either drainage ditches/holes where cables were laid and not properly back filled.
Food and drinks: Restaurant on site, although a bit pricey.
Also a convenience shop on site.
Noteworthy details: Nice and quiet in a nice area. Staff we encountered were nice and friendly.

Spent 3 nights here with my partner and our dog. Was a lovely lodge we stayed in, wasn?t very clean, was a few bits like a stain on the bedsheet when we got there, didn?t look like it had been dusted and the window was broken when we got there but did report it to reception when we left.
I would say though, I know it?s self catering but I didn?t know I had to bring stuff like my own tea towel and salt and pepper, I did think that would be provided at the lodge but it didn?t matter as there is a shop on site that sells all the essentials you would need. The lodge had all your pots and pans etc that you would need to cook.
But I would say if you do stay here and want to save on a bit of money and bring your own stuff like tea, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid, toilet rolls, cooking oil. But, like I said the shop on site has everything and wasn?t silly prices for stuff too.
We had dinner at the lookout restaurant one night, atmosphere was good, dog friendly and they had bingo and a quiz on that night. Only thing I would say about the restaurant is the price of the food didn?t match the quality of the food that was served.
Overall was a good stay, looked good for the families that had children as there was lots of activities to do. But as a couple with a dog we used it more for the lodge and we went exploring around Cornwall majority of our stay.
