The post box was painted gold to commemorate Helen Glover winning a gold medal in the London 2012 Olympics women's coxless pairs rowing. She grew up in Penzance. It is still here 11 years later.

Royal Mail celebrated Helen Gloverâ??s gold medal win at the 2012 Rio Olympics by painting an iconic red post box gold in her home town of Penzance.
