Arrived in Penzance for a nice stroll and shop with a small dog. As we were shopping decided to call into Star Inn for a bite to eat and drink only to find that the pub didn't accept dogs. Shame as we would have spent some money. My partner went to use the loo only to be told toilet are for customers only and she has a dog (dog was outside). Staff were rude and there were dogs already in the pub. Wouldn't recommend.

A lovely pub with character and lovely feel, so much better than the chain pub nearby, friendly staff.

A traditional pub that is working hard to be just that. A good old fashioned traditional pub where you can go get a drink with your friends. It also offers good pub food at a reasonable price and served with a smile. The new owner served us a super steak and chips with delicious, reasonably priced deserts of sticky toffee pudding and Apple crumble. Both of these served with lashings of custard. My husband is looking forward to the new continental lager they?re planning on introducing soon. We often go to a pub and play cards or just chat together and this is an ideal place to do this. On top of that they?ve introduced new evening events and we look forward to watching some of the entertainment planned.

First of all it smells of bad drains, you shouldn't go there for that reason alone. We questioned the staff, they said it was down to a smelly dog, I don't know if this makes the problem better or worse. Inside is traditional(tatty) and there are no customers other than us. We had one pint and left.

Brilliant hospitality. Turned up at 8.30pm looking for food. Official last food orders at 7.00pm on a Thursday, but the chef went out of his way to make us feel welcome and reopened the kitchen for our orderif4. We couldn't have asked for more. The food was good quality pub food and no hesitation about going back again. Good management both in the kitchen and at the bar made the visit enjoyable. Not the sort of service you would have got at the nearby Weatherspoons. Give it a go.

If you're looking for good quality pub food in Penzance, then come to The Star Inn. My family & I really enjoyed our meal - it was delicious food, terrific service & great staff running the establishment, give it a try! Even if you just want a drink , a game of pool, or watch a match, this pub caters for all !

We visited the pub to watch an England game. The one where we beat the Germans ! The Star Inn Facebook page suggested to message them, so I requested to book a table this way. Communication was very friendly and we had a table right in front of the T V. The bar staff were all very friendly and were extremely attentive with the table service they were providing due to Covid restrictions. All the customer tables were politely away from each other?s. The pub was also very very clean. We would definitely visit again.

literally the worst service, in 3 hours only got 3 drinks which we had to keep asking for over and over again. 3 members of staff on a saturday night, table next to us came in at 9:30 ordered didn?t get their drinks until 10 and was told had to leave at 10:30 even tho pubs can be open until 11, bar tender told them that if they stayed any longer then they would and i quote be ?pissing the staff off?. extortionate prices. not even that busy the staff were hardly rushed off their feet and yet would wait 30 minutes minimum for drinks to come after persistently asking staff to take our order. also women stood behind bar on her phone even tho when we asked if they were short staffed she said no and that it was just busy?? yet was on her phone?? honestly will never come here again, bad vibes and not worth the hassle they had £80 from us and not a jot of customer service, would rather throw £80 in the wind than ever give it to them again. A V O I D !!!

Visited here on a saturday night, there was only 4 of us. we arrived at roughly 7pm and within the time frame of 3 hours we were only seen to twice! a pub cannot demand table service where no service is in place! we persistently (very politely) asked for service and still no one came to our table even though the pub was hardly busy! then after we had ordered, our drinks took 20 mins to actually arrive! to add to the situation the ?owner? was stood behind the bar on her phone while people were awaiting drinks and her answer to an adjacent table was ?sorry its extremely busy? and continued on her phone. unsure if it is an understaffing issue or just purely bad management. as well as poor service, staff are rude and clearly only care about going home as a-posed to customer service. sanitation is absolutely appalling, an adjacent table was seated on an uncleared table that had not been sanitised during a global pandemic! absolutely disgraceful.
