The worst 'inconvenience' store, ever.I have never had a shopping experience that has left me incandescent with furious anger until my family walked into this store in early September 2023.My wife & I have holiday in the area for decades with so many happy memories of the area and its local people/businesses, but have not been for several years since a decline in my health & a heart attack last year. So this short break to our lovely neighbouring county was much needed. We had a wonderful 2 days & just before our departure home we popped into the store to buy some mementos, gifts & a special wedding anniversary present as the place means so much to us both.So we walked around the store looking at the lovely selection of goods, when I noticed the blonde lady behind the counter (Owner) came over and was deliberately eyeing us with absolute daggers in her eyes, like nothing I've seen before. I was so shocked by her mannerisms, that as I made the purchase I decided to ask tongue in cheek "if they have many shoplifters in, judging by the looks you are giving us?". Without missing a beat she pointed at my youngest son and said "yes, shoplifters like him!". Flabbergasted is an understatement, I literally heard my wife's jaw hit the counter. We asked her how she came about that conclusion and to explain her accusations, whereupon she pulled out her phone and showed us an image of a lad from 3 days ago, saying that was our son stealing from their shop. I explained that A/ that was quite impressive as we were still at home in Devon & this was out first time in the store for a few years, and B/ it looked absolutely nothing like our son. With total incredulousness neither her nor her husband offered up any form of apology. Their rudeness is like nothing I have experienced in all my years and they do not deserve to run a public facing business. Yes, I am aware shoplifting is endemic at the moment but this is no way to treat paying customers. It left my children upset and anxious having been blatantly accused of theft. Many years ago I personally worked in art galleries around the world, and at no time did I ever encounter someone so void of professionalism in retail, be it a £20,000 painting or a tin of baked beans. To the owner, learn some respect, act on facts before you accuse innocent customers of theft and learn the dignity and humility to accept when you are wrong and when to apologies.A masterclass in how not to run a business. If I could mark you minus stars I would. 1 is way too generous.Disgraceful.

Went out of my way to use a local shop, shouldn?t have bothered. They refuse to take cash!! Crazy policy must cost them money every day. Unbelievable!

If they stayed open late they would make a lot more money but for the amount of money they charge this shop only needs to be open for a second.

Wine selection bigger than the food isles. Fill your boots with overpriced pastries and organic jams. Woman a bit moody. Not bad for tourists staying in the area. Vatican cameos.

We have been using this shop for years when we holiday, love the changes that have been made, staff always lovely and chatty, this year they were struggling with staff (apparently) but I didn?t notice any changes in their service or quality. My dog loves to sit outside with us and have his rest whilst we have our coffees. Thankyou guys and will look forward to seeing you next year!

High quality local convenience store. Filled with everyday essentials along with luxury food, drinks and home accessories. Very good range of greetings cards. Fresh packaged meat, fish and cheese available from local suppliers along with delicatessen products and fruit and vegetables. Excellent range of bread and of course Cornish pasties! Lovely place to shop with very helpful staff who have worked tirelessly throughout the difficult covid years. Dogs can be left just outside on a lead hook with shade and water. Card payment only since Covid pandemic. Highly recommended and so much more than a convenience store. Thank you Chris & Amelia for keeping a local treasure going through it all!

Fabulous little shop. Great selection of luxury food and wines alongside more staple ingredients.Very good coffee too, and I drink oat cappuccinos which are often very badly made.

I visited the store this morning with my dog and planned to buy an iced coffee which used to be kept in the fridge area. No dogs allowed sign, FairPlay, so I waited at the serving hatch whilst others were being served at the counter. I was seen by both of the blonde ladies serving at the counter and since neither of them acknowledged me, I asked if I could get an iced coffee, stating I had my dog with me. ?Well I?m not allowed to get it for you????? ?There?s a hook you can tie him onto? I was told.Absolute dismissal, so rude?I don?t leave my friend tied up outside shops, hook or not.I walked away and won?t be calling in again. Vote with your feet is my motto.I do hope that other customers with dogs have a better experience. The one star was given for the water bowl placed outside.Have a lovely day dear ladies.
