Have been visiting this beach for 38 years. Have seen it change but still enjoy it as much. Can't comment on accommodation as it is only a dream to afford to stay in it. However café, hire shop and staff lovely. Toilets let the beach down they could do with major updating but other than that it's amazing as always!

We loved this beach. It was the nearest to our holiday house and spent the last two days og our stay on it. Fun exploring caves. Great for surfing and body boarding. The two year old with us loved it too. Nice beach bar with very good ice-cream and drinks. Well looked after by the coast guards.

Fantastic day out for all the family. We swam in the historic sea pools and explored to local shops and cafes. There are a few places to park, close to the Falcon Hotel is cheaper than by the sea pools and only a short walk.

The location was fantastic. The beds very comfy. The main bedroom excellent. Balcony overlooking the beach was lovely. The main living area was quite small. For 2 people it wasn't bad but for a family, it might be a bit cramped. The ensuite shower head was far too large for the shower cubicle itself.Walkability: The only way to get off the location is either up a series of steps - about 4 or 5 storeys worth or a road.

Great beach once you've managed to get down to it. There's a lot of steps or a large long ramp ( that will take a vehicle to drop off) RNLI manned & two bars. One being the Colonial for restaurant food & cocktails etc, & the other is an outdoor type cafe bar. Low tide you can walk across to other beaches. We often walk from Tolcarne beach to the harbour at low tide. Soft golden sand great waves. Watch out for the Weaver fish, though. ?

An unforgettable experience. Beautiful view of the private beach. Lovely room decor. Enjoyed the relaxed stay. Returning for sure. Booked the king room with balcony. The reception also granted us late check out upon request.

A ramp or steps lead to this beach. Toilets available but no sink water to wash your hands but you've got the sea. Nice sand for castles. Managed cricket and frisbee during school holidays so not too busy. Nice to swim good for body boarding in and out tide. Not too high or rough compared to perranporth. Not the best place for a sunset as there's an island in the way! Probably should complain to the manager. Life guard on beach. Apparently no alcohol or dogs but the dogs clearly were flouting the law.

Its fair to say that we were in Newquay for probably the wettest week of the season. That may have coloured our judgment of the property as we were stuck indoors far more than we expected!!! Beware though - the photos make the apartment look bigger than reality. We stayed in a 3 bedroom superior apartment (4 adults 3 children) and it just isn?t big enough. It can accommodate 8 (or so they say) but there is not enough space. The kitchen is MINUTE?it is not possible to cook for a houseful. One cutlery drawer could only be opened if the oven door was open. Another cupboard could only be opened when the extractor was closed (do you get the message). We had to eat in rotation ( there are only 6 chairs) and the built-under fridge is too small to cater for 6, 7, 8 people. The bedrooms on the lower floor are tiny and with no view except for a walkway which means one has to keep the curtains closed. They each have two single beds and the gap between them is barely 25cm and with hardly any cupboard space. The upper floor en-suite bedroom is super. Great views over the sea and beach. We had it configured as two double beds and is obviously ideal for mum, dad and young kids. The balcony also only accommodates 6 seated. They should sacrifice the tiny bedroom and extend the kitchen into it. That would work! But, of course, what they can charge depends upon capacity. Presentation throughout was excellent so don't be put off - so long as there's max 6 of you are you aren't doing big dinners.

The beach houses are literally on the beach. They are roomy, spotlessly clean despite the inevitable ingress of sand when entering from the beach, decorated in fascinating detail with polished wooden floors. The staff are all so very cheeful, helpful and attentive to every request or query and really give the impression that they all feel part of a happy family. We have to give special mention to Ava (or maybe Eva), Natasha and Niamh who each took care of us on one of our lovely evenings in the restaurant but all the staff we encountered were a real credit to themselves and the hotel. The food is also worthy of special mention, being of fine-dining quality and yet priced no higher than a decent town restaurant and chefs Matt and Wayne (aka 'Skinny') not only produced wonderful food for both breakfasts and dinners but were also happy to spend some time chatting about the area, the food, their lives in Newquay and the hotel. It is impossible to quite put into a few words how exceptional the hotel and its environment is; quite simply it is the best hotel we've ever experienced in the UK and easily in our top three worldwide (we are in our 50s and are quite widely travelled so we think we can draw pretty comprehensive comparisons). To be able to eat fantastic food, served by the most charming and cheerful staff, then enjoy a cocktail on the terrace overlooking the beach before going to sleep in a wonderfully comfortable bed and to the sound of surf, only a few dozen yards away proved to be the most relaxing, enjoyable and restorative few days we can recall. We will be back.

Well what can i say, no words can describe the stay we had. From the first moment we arrived everything was perfect! We were greated at reception by Danny who was very friendly and informative. We were a little bit early before check in but that wasnt a problem. We were fortunate enough to recieve an upgrade to a room with a hot tub and little private beach garden. We couldnt belive our luck! We were lead to our room and given a tour. The room was immaculate and had everything we needed, from towels and shampoos to a record player and sunloungers in our beach garden. Great water pressure in the shower and an amazing view of Tolcarne bay. Was fantasic for us being right on the beach as we surf so didnt have to walk to a beach with our boards! :-) recieved 2X complimentary cocktails on arival too wich was a super cool touch! We had breakfast included everyday of our stay too. The cornish breakfast was lovley and so was the cornish Kipper. Coffees were tasty and the bloody mary in the morning went down well after a heavy night on the local ciders :-P Decided to eat in the Colonial restaurant. We ordered starters, mains and cocktails. Eveything there was perfect too. Amazing view whilst you are relaxing with attentive and friendly staff. Town centre is around a 10 min walk along the beach during low tide and a 15 min walk (ish) via the steps up the cliff. We did have a little touble finding where you actually drive down the village. We eventually found the road leading to the beach village. It a road right by the crossing (included a photo). The drive down the cliff road is a little on the tricky side but didnt find it that hard, just have to keep a good eye out. I supose it can be an issue if you arnt the most confident driver or have a bigger car. The weather was amazing during our stay too which made the perfect stay even more perfect. Cant rate this place enough and we WILL be back!

Paradise! Breath taking is understatement. Everything is just perfect! This was our third time visiting and you just can?t have enough of it, I never want to leave! Huge thank you to Danny, who makes everyone feel special. We stayed in an ocean suite, what a stunning room the decor is so beautiful makes you feel like you are somewhere in Caribbean the old record player, the super comfy bed and the sea all you can hear and see is the sea the waves crashing all day long - it?s a dream. If you need to switch off and only live in a moment - this is the place!!! The food is delicious at colonial restaurant so fresh! Tolcarne you have our hearts!
