Having visited the Ugly Butterfly in Carbis Bay (now moved to Newquay) my wife and I thought we'd give the Tartan Fox a visit, we weren't disappointed the food was fantastic and staff very friendly and welcoming.
We will be back.

Expensive but very very good quality. In particular chicken butter, mussles, Sunday roasts and that marsbar desert are all outstanding. Service is OK but could be better

Wow, what a place!
My fiancé and I were in the area for a little staycation and wanted to find somewhere to eat along our route. After trying to find some places to go we stumbled across The Tartan Fox, a quick look at the menu and we were sold at ?Cheese Doughnuts?.
So along we went hoping there was room. We were so warmly greeted upon arrival like we were regulars, we knew we?d found a gem.
The decor of the place is just stunning, I will definitely be pinching a few of these ideas for our wedding next year!
We were seated downstairs by the log burner, which was an absolute dream. Also meant our dog could have a snooze by the fire.
We obviously immediately sought out the cheese doughnuts and ordered those, and oh my they were just divine. The mains we had were also probably some of the best meals we?ve ever had. Apparently we were the first to try the rack of pork and beef short rib. Just?wow. We?ve never savoured a meal so much. Just exactly what you want in a meal, nothing too faffed with or presented exotically, just really really good food. Also gherkin gravy?! What a revelation!
The puddings we had were just as delicious, deep fried mars bar, what?s not to love!!
All the front of house were so lovely and welcoming, such amazing service is often hard to find.
Although we may not be around to visit again soon, we were made aware of the other restaurants around the country, we will certainly be making a trip to those.
If you?re making a trip to Cornwall, make sure a meal at The Tartan Fox is on your to-do list!!

Can't praise this lovely place enough. Superb venue. Lovely decor and atmosphere. Gorgeous food and a great drinks selection. The owners are so kind and welcoming. Extremely good service, good humor and treated me so well this evening. Would highly recommend 5 stars

I came here for a Sunday roast (vegan) and what I was served was an insult. Calling a cauliflower drowned in katsu curry sauce with a side of cabbage, potatoes, and sweetcorn a ?roast? is laughable. This wasn?t a creative twist, it was a complete cop-out. No gravy, no roast trimmings, no meat substitute?nothing even remotely resembling what anyone would recognise as a roast.
The atmosphere may be nice and the staff friendly, but none of that makes up for being misled and served a random, spicy curry dish (for £22!!!) instead of the roast I came for. Don?t advertise a Sunday roast if you can?t be bothered to actually deliver one. It?s misleading, disappointing, and frankly lazy

Cheese donuts were a highlight. My whole plaice in brown butter was very average, just golden butter, none of the nuttiness of real brown butter, which was disappointing. Probably won't rush back given the choice of great dining on offer in the area.

I really don't know where to start. The atmosphere was lovely. The staff were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was amazing. The menu had variety and depth. Flavours were amazing and so well thoughtout. Bread, caviar hash browns, cheese doughnuts, tartar, pork chop and the lamb. Didn't have desserts because we were both full and didnt want to ruin a great meal. Merlot was good and so was the coffee. Not a cheap meal but worth every penny. This is a must visit for all foodies.

Thought the place was lovely with nice atmosphere, menu looked and sounded good. Overall review is a tale of two halves with lovely tasting food but feel they have been greedy with charging for all sides and not having some included with what are quite pricey main courses. E.g my pork chop was literally just a pork chop with gravy and apple sauce and nothing else for £30 the lamb rump was only three small slices of lamb with a courgette flower. £5 for broccoli felt excessive. Having said that the chips we ordered (another £5) were delicious and the desserts were amazing.

Fabulous dinner with brilliant friendly service.
As dog owners when we come away we are either limited or banished to the ?bar? when we go for food, and it can be really frustrating. So it?s lovely to be able to find a high end restaurant that welcomes dogs and allows us to enjoy fantastic food.
The wine list is amazing and the steak was to die for. The restaurant is also really nicely laid out and decorated with plenty of room between tables. A must whilst in Cornwall (whether you have a dog or not).

Just stopped by for a meal. Fantastic service from all the staff there. Got seated without a booking. Had the scotch egg as a starter and it was delicious. The brown sauce was lovely. So much so I asked if I could buy it. The gentleman brought me out a tub of it to take away with me.
I had the burger which was delicious. The truffle mayo was amazing. My friend had lamb, which was melt in the mouth good.
Would definitely come back if in the area again.

Absolutely amazing place to eat, food I would 100% recommend and would love to go back!
Visited this lovely place while on holiday, they are dog friendly and this is within a campground.
Location is still beautiful as it?s out of the way but the interior is stunning, such a cozy vibe in the summer and I can imagine also the winter too!
Super dog friendly and the staff were really friendly. We had a mixture for meals and all were absolutely superb, the flavour was amazing, the portion size, perfect!
The meat quality was delicious, the smoked flavours, the grilled section for the steak was cooked perfectly. All flavours combined worked so well.
The staff were friendly and especially Niamh that answered our curious questions regarding the menu and how the food is cooked.
I would recommend this restaurant and especially if you have a dog.
