We stayed off season in February for my birthday, it was absolutely lovely! Staff were helpful and friendly, location... obviously amazing. Right next to all the shops and restaurants. Pub adjoining with a great Thai takeaway van also next to it. Can't wait to come back in the summer and look forward to seeing what it's like when it's busy!Fantastic value, great atmosphere and I loved the building itself too, a beautiful place.

I didn't stay here but we came for drinks one day and then I came back the next day to have coffee and admire the beautiful view of the coast from the back of the hotel. It does seem a little tired but so comfortable and the staff really made it for us. Nina was just lovely and recognised me when I came back. So so nice. I don't know what the bedrooms are like or the food but the prices look good and you get such a nice welcome.

The rooms were comfy, warm, and what we expected. The breakfast was a real treat. Plenty of food and lots of options.Food & drinks: Even though the hotel has no in-house bar, there is one adjacent to it.

I really wanted to like this hotel.Bedrooms had very high ceilings, which made them difficult to heat.Booked a double room, ended up with two single beds pushed together, which weren't the same height.... leading to discomfort. It's not a double room in my opinion if you push single beds together! The bathroom had remnants of a previous soap fitting which looked rusty and made the shower feel dirty. The pillows didn't smell clean....smell carried through the clean linen. The staircase is very grande....but carpets are tired throughout the hotel. It's marketed as a beach front hotel....but it's actually set back a bit atop a cliff. The price was very fair though in February. But as the saying goes....you get what you pay for.I wouldn't want to stay here in the summer season with higher pricing. The location is good, close to local shops and food options....(the restaurant wasn't open at all in the evening)

I stayed there in mid January. The room and my own bathroom was relativity clean too, the view and location was lovely and I would emphasise that the staff were super friendly. However I was a little disappointed staying here to be honest. The hotel was really tired inside. I certainly wasn't expecting perfection given that I'd paid quite a reasonable rate, but when I got to my floor and exited the lift, half the carpet had been pulled up and there were yellow 'do not enter' signs scattered around, so it was a bit of an obstacle course trying to get around all that to get to my room.Paint was coming off the walls in my room and around the building generally, the dressing table in my room was rickety and felt like it was about to fall apart so I couldn't really put anything on it, and some of the plug socket near it was coming out of the wall so I was a bit tentative plugging my hairdryer in to use it...! The door lock on my room was so wobbly it felt like it wasn't secure which as a female staying alone (particularly in the middle of the night when I could hear people stumbling back drunk from nights out) wasn't great so I didn't sleep brilliantly. The breakfast was OK but the coffee provided in the dispenser was cold when I got there so I just couldn't drink it and ended up getting takeaway from somewhere nearby. It says something that they told me I was not the first guest from the hotel that had come to get their coffee in there that weekend...The spa/pool was the most disappointing bit to be honest. It's really not in a great way. The changing rooms were grim, half the showers didn't work with bits coming off the shower trays and condensation water dripping down from the ceiling constantly. The steam room wasn't even working properly, to the point where people were having to stick bits of wet tissue into the steam pipe just to get the room to steam up, which meant that walking in to the steam room there were bits of wet tissue paper all over the floor which felt a bit gross. I know this isn't the fault of the hotel necessarily but there had also been a group clearly about to go out after using the spa so when I got there they were drinking and then left their empty Carling cans on the floor across the spa when they left. Overall the spa just didn't feel clean and I ended up having another shower in my room afterwards just to feel a little less grimy, plus I couldn't use the changing room showers as only two were working and they had hair all over them.I generally hate writing bad reviews or complaining but this place really wasn't great and I just hope that they use reviews like this to do the work to improve it as the location is awesome and this place has so much potential if it was in better condition...

Really friendly staff. Room was a bit cold but they provided us with extra blankets which was greatly appreciated. It needs renovating a little but it has a lovely feel to it and is very cheap. Couldn?t ask for more.

Hotel in great need of repair and decoration, furniture is worn and dirty, breakfast was dreadful. Carpets stuck together with grey gaffer tape on every landing. Very run down hotel wallpaper hanging off and coming away in many places....dreadful stay.....

Stayed here the beginning of December. Only booked their basic Standard Room which surprisingly was quite large with a nice side view, we could even see glimpses of the sea. Clean, comfortable bed, kettle with teas/coffees and good sized ensuite. The hotel is beautiful with a stunning staircase and high ceilings, yes it's a bit dated and in need of a bit of TLC but we loved it.Staff are friendly and the older gentlemen by the front door so kindly showed us around and told us a bit about the history. Thank you ?We were very pleased to find the lift now working. Pool was open till 10pm and was amazing, big enough to have a good swim and surprisingly deep at 8ft. The relaxing jacuzzi is massive and really warm. Sauna was very clean, looks new to me. There was also a steam room. The changing rooms really need updating.Buffet breakfast was fantastic value at £5 each for a help yourself buffet of cereals, yogurt, breads, eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns, beans and mushrooms. Selection of teas. Coffee (sorry was terrible).

Stayed for a few days with my dad last week. It may be old fashioned but I enjoyed the charm of the place. Breakfast was basic but had amazing views. The hotel itself and the room was very clean. All the staff were very friendly, welcoming and help you with any queries. Would definitely stay again.Nearby activities: Lots of beaches around to go walking. Plenty of towns villages to visit. Knew about Truro and Padstow but discovered Mevagissy and FoweyWalkability: Short walk into townFood & drinks: Plenty of pubs and restaurants about

This was our third year, so know what to expect. Thank goodness the lift was replaced, that made such a difference. The location is great. We came a bit early as they were putting up the Christmas tree as we were leaving. We will be back next

Friendly staff, rooms a little tired but still nice. It's fairly priced out season and is dog friendly. Please note pay for parking at the hotel and not via the machines in the parking lot.

Lovely hotel in a central location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Elegant rooms and some beautifully decorated Christmas trees.
