We must have gone on a bad day, as our experience was nothing like the many reviews on this page. We went purely due to reading online reviews and unfortunately it did not live up to the ?best steaks ever?. Both sirloin steaks were full of fat, which personally I could not eat. The table next to us was the same. For the price we were very disappointed and would not return. The staff were pleasant but found the whole atmosphere a bit odd

Review for Butchers Bistro
We've been in Cornwall for four nights, and without a doubt, the best meal we've had was at Butchers Bistro. The food was simply outstanding. I had the scallops and fillet steak, and both were cooked to absolute perfection?hands down the best I?ve ever had. It?s rare to find a steak that is so well-cooked and full of flavor, but they nailed it here.
During our trip, we also dined at Rick Stein?s and Paul Ainsworth?s restaurants, but tonight?s meal at Butchers Bistro topped them all. My husband had the steamed mussels and a medium steak, and he was just as impressed. The quality of the ingredients, the skill in the cooking, and the depth of flavor made this a truly exceptional dining experience.
If you?re in Cornwall and looking for the best food around, Butchers Bistro is the place to go. A must-visit for steak lovers and seafood fans alike!

Absolutely blooming BEAUTIFUL! We already want to come back to try everything on the Menu. Mix of starters and Mains, Panko Squid, fresh squid and crispy panko crumb cooked perfectly. Fish Chowder one of the best we've ever tasted and again fresh with freshly "home" made bread.
Mains 2 Steaks as that's what we'd set out to have but honestlyi could have eaten anything on the menu it sounded lovely, we had a Ribeye which was on the Specials board and a huge chunk of a Sirloin from the main menu, both cooked to perfection, hand cut chips with salad, (ps the salad dressing deserves 5*too). All of the meals bought out to other customers whilst we were there looked perfect too, so this will be our new place to visit!
Staff are extremely professional, well organised and front of house perfection (coming from a similar background it was all just spot on. Not over not under fussy and we were extremely impressed with the service and staff)
If you haven't visited please visit, book in advance to avoid disappointment!
Good range of beers and a nice selection of wines too.

My daughter had the prawn tagliatelle and said it was good. The fish in the fish trio was nice and well cooked but the veg that came with it were just a bit dull. They could have been more interesting and flavourful.

I ate twice there as the food was so good and fresh and the staff very friendly.

The first thing I noticed when we walked in was how immediately friendly and attentive the staff were. The atmosphere was very friendly and warming. I run a very busy retail business and I train all my staff to smile and speak to guests when they make eye contact. This was very evident immediately in this great little hidden gem of a restaurant. The selection on the menu is not to complicated which is a great sign of a restaurant doing the same dishes perfectly. My wife and I both ordered the special of fish cowder, which was genuinely one of the best I've eaten. No additional seasoning was required, which is common place with that dish, and the generous chunks of fish were very soft and flavourful. Served with some very nice sourdough gooey bread that was perfect for swatting up the remnants in the bowl. For Main course, my wife had the slow cooked beef with creamy garlic mash. She absolutely loved it and said that the mash was unbelievably nice. I had the 10oz Sirloin, and I asked for rare. In my experience, a lot of chefs always overcook a rare steak. This was absolutely perfect. The diane sauce on the side was also excellent. Creamy and packed full of flavour. Because those two dishes were so good and so generous in portion. We couldn't fit in a pud. I've never seen my wife NOT ORDER a pud. Wow. I love to see small family run business doing well. It is a true little hidden gem in Newquay. Next time we visit Newquay, we will definitely revisit. My only advice is, get a bigger and more prominent place because with simple yet top quality food like that, which is well priced, you'll fill the place easy. Thank you

I couldn't hope for better, born in a country of fishermen and with one of the best cuisines in the world, I consider myself a person who is demanding about what I eat, 5 stars, the fish is fresh and cooked to perfection, the friendly service and the hygiene is impeccable. Everything in proper proportion. Even the espresso looked like it was taken in Portugal. It wasn't cheap but I was still happy to leave a tip, such was the quality. Without a doubt, a place to return. Well done, and thank you very much.

UPDATE: September 2024 - Years later and this restaurant never disappoints. Service is excellent. The manager Trevor is very personable and great at his job. Restaurant runs smoothly, it's kept clean and presentable even when busy. All the staff are friendly and helpful. They go the extra mile to ensure the customer is happy and that allergies are taken care of. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal this evening. I didn't want the Rib Eye steak to end and that homemade Diane Sauce was incredible. Can't wait until next time. Thank you.
August 2022 - Fantastic restaurant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and busy which is a good sign. My order did take a long time but I didnt mind waiting. My steak was undercooked and they happily took it back to cook longer. I got a free drink for the inconvenience and I was very happy with the service. The food was amazing, lovely and fresh and good portion size. I highly recommend
Wheelchair accessibility: They have step free access. But there isn't a disabled toilet inside

I highly recommend Seafood Mariniere dish - absolutely delicious ??Fish and mussels great but the sauce ?OMG ?Amazing seafood taste ?????? I ate all the sauce that was left on the plate with a spoon - sooo good ??Other dishes also very good .Good selection of wines.Very nice desserts ?
