Lunch/Food Review2nd visit in 4 months.I was less than impressed the first time, this time it was awful, which is a shame as it's such a beautiful setting!Firstly, waitress Hannah was lovely, friendly and helpful. Can't really fault the waiting staff. The menu was fussy and complicated and the food was terrible.I don't remember the last time I sent a meal back but this time we sent 2 back having barely touched them.We had minor intolerance requests1-No sugar and No wheatOrdered pressed Beef with a side of Broccoli & Plum Salad.2-No sugar and not too much oil or fatOrdered Boiled Potatoes (specifically stated that there was to be no oil or butter on them) and Asparagus Side with de-caf tea.Received: Roast potatoes and standard tea!Clearly a communication issue with the kitchen. We received dishes 5 minutes apart. All food was tepid and absolutely drowning in oil.Pressed Beef - 3 Pieces approximately 1 inch wide and 3 inches long - similar to old fashion potted beef. I didn't hate the idea but it was so greasy there's no way you could eat 3 pieces of that. It would better be suited as a small starter: 1 piece with a light fresh salad and a sharp tang of lemon or tomato to cut through the grease.I had 2 mouthfuls before sending it back and it repeated on me all afternoon.Brocolli and Plum Salad - This looked really lovely and I was soooo disappointed that this was also drowned in oil! Not just a little olive drizzle but completely coated in some other sort of oil. This would be so nice as a fresh salad, and the portion size of this was good.Asparagus - Tiny portion, cold and again swimming in oil.Roast potatoes - looked nice but that wasn't what was ordered.I personally LOVE fat, and as a keto dieter, animal fats and olive oil contributes a large portion of my daily calories but this was, even for me, TOO MUCH GREASE!Also, anything fatty or oily MUST be served piping hot or the grease just lines your mouth.Staff took the food back without issue and waived the bill as expected. My final quibble and a pet hate of mine is when staff automatically assume you are a tourist and speak to you about the trials and logistics of Cornwall like you have no idea how things work 'down here', when in actual fact you are local and have been since childhood!Previous Review (Nov 2023)Beautiful location with views over to St Michael's Mount.Really friendly and helpful staff, great service.Food was OK....The soup - is served in a homemade bread roll, a quirky touch but I would prefer it on the side. Not good if you don't eat bread. The Wagu burger was nice, but a strong flavoured meat.Pudding would have to be a negative from me...... The cakes all seem to be the same sponge with a different sauce depending on what you order. The sponge itself is far too sweet, has been soaked in sugar-syrup, I couldn't eat it. The sauce, ice cream and freeze dried fruit to accompany the sponge were all good.Peppermint tea was great - Fresh peppermint leaves!!

Excellent accommodation, friendly and welcoming staff and delicious food. The views of St Michael's Mount and across the bay were fabulous from our balcony.

Our friend recommended we have food at the restaurant here and we are so glad we did! Such welcoming staff, very friendly. Their scones/cream tea were served warm and fresh! And oh my the view! Such gorgeous seating! The disabled lift was out of action so staff offered to help lift buggy for us as well. Exceptional staff 10/10Food & drinks: My husband had their classic burger which he said was one of the best burgers he?s ever had and I had a selection of the small plates: potato dumplings (yummy and the chutney was sharp and tangy a perfect compliment), fish of the day tempura (light with a wonderfully sharp aioli) with tenderstem brocolli and plum (a fruity take on a classic side dish with radish and spring onion which has made it certainly very memorable and a dish I hope to emulate back home!). Our 9 month old enjoyed tasting little bites of our food alongside her usual and the lovely waitress even cleaned up our weaning spoon for us!Noteworthy details: Gluten free and veggie/vegan options available. Sustainably sourced foodDisables access (although lift was out of order on our visit)GORGEOUS VIEWSTAFF ARE EXCEPTIONALBeautifully presented and clean public areas (we did not use hotel)

Most of these 4 stars given are for the view of St Michaels Mound form the panoramic viewing window of the restaurant. Ordered only a cream tea, to share which is great that they permit that, however attention to detail lacking a bit - table spoon given with sugar pot, no teaspoons provided and steak knives instead of butter knives, and had to remind them about the tea a few minutes after receiving the scones! Otherwise staff are great and accommodating. Must visit to have a scenic lunch or tea. Parking next door in the public car park but suspect it gets very busy during peaks.

Beautiful views from the restaurant. The fish and chips with the daily catch was one of the best. The service was prompt and friendly. This place is also pet friendly with many furry friends inside.

Not very impressed with our visit today.Fist we sat at a table and got settled, but we were asked to move as the table was booked for lunch, no reservation notice on the table. We then found another table downstairs and went to the bar to order, our table did not have a table number so the lady couldn't serve us. Went back downstairs to find a table number for our table couldn't find anyone else to help, so took a number from a nearby table. Ordered food took quite a while to arrive. The lady who served us at the bar really didn't seem very helpful or happy to serve us.Bit poor really.
