My first visit here and it was just a quick stop to enjoy a pint before moving on - it was the middle of a weekday afternoon so it was very quiet. Was very impressed by the covered beer garden, a lot of places to sit and most with their own heater for chillier weather, I expect it has a good atmosphere on busy evenings. The sole member of staff I saw was very friendly & the beer was great - hope to return again to stay longer and try the food.

As soon as we walked into the bar we were made to feel exceptionally welcome, with patrons chatting to us and the landlord "warning" us there was a band in that evening. That was actually the reason we were staying there! A lovely barmaid showed us to our room which was tastefully decorated and had a fridge, hairdryer and led onto a large en suite bathroom which had small bottles of shampoo etc. There was a towel in the landing to dry off any dogs that might have been staying which was a lovely touch. It is an old building so you could hear distant chatter from the bar below but it wasn't a problem for us at all. We went down and ordered dinner which was absolutely amazing. We had the medium veggie pizza, cheesy chips and garlic bread between us and just couldn?t finish it all. Their portions are enormous ... you've been warned! All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. There was a choice of Rattler cyder on tap and Cornish Tarquin gins as well as Korev Cornish lager. The band (The Claze) played out in the back courtyard which was under cover and had lots of seating, heaters and lighting. It was a great atmosphere and was the perfect setting for a gig in any weather. We preordered 2 veggie breakfasts and when we came downstairs in the morning we were delighted to see they had BT Sports on and were showing the MotoGP racing. Breakfast was again enormous and delicious and the landlord and landlady were chatty and attentive.I would thoroughly recommend this lovely pub and we will definitely be back. The room was very reasonably priced and so was the food, especially when taking into account the more than generous portions. Thank you to everyone for a truly enjoyable stay.

Excellent Sunday roast. Great traditional pub with a first class beer garden. Excellent range of beer and ales. Will certainly be returning.AddendumWe have returned now on more than a few occasions and my original experiences hold true. Great food and lovely landlady

Staying in nearby Lerryn and struggled to find a pub that could accommodate us without pre booking for a traditional Sunday roast. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions generous. Beautiful thick gravy and plentiful. I have to say I don?t think I?ve had a better Sunday lunch anywhere. Staff were very friendly.

Hi, just in Lostwithiel for a few nights, ate here on two evenings. The pizzas were delicious and huge, and I mean HUGE! The next visit we ordered a Hunter?s chicken and salmon, again very ample portions and beautifully presented. Staff couldn?t do enough for you, locals in the bar, all very friendly when entered and left, all in all, a ?proper job? definitely recommend ??

Attractive, friendly pub with a good outside area, live sport and music on quite often. Don't know about it accommodation wise but it's usually one of the cheaper local options. I suppose because it's not a free house it's a bit pricier than the globe in town but still worth coming to.

Went here for Sunday dinner. Lovely ambiance, friendly staff, food great. Not so good the supposed to be chilled out after dinner drink in the garden. To our amazement there were drunk people all of whom knew each other shouting and swearing across the tables. The waitress came out and we thought she was going to shut them up. No. She sat down and joined in with them. Never ever again. We had our 11 year old granddaughter with us and that was truly out of order. We up and left.
