A good place to go for a hot drunk

Amazing Sunday lunch as always with very friendly and attentive staff. We are always very happy when we come here and think it is well worth a visit. The food and service are all of top quality

We have always had great food and service whilst visiting the Restaurant over the last 5 years. Since the renovations and addition of the Orangery we were disappointed with the choices on the menu and the prices. £11 for a Croque Monsieur and a bit of side salad is extortionate, let alone 2 small bowls of French fries at £5 each for which we had to remind the staff we had ordered but not received. I'm not sure if there is a new chef but the quality and choice of food previously was of a much higher standard. The acoustic in the Restaurant was also dreadful, there was background music but all you could hear was a constant buzz of the bass and after 2hrs was tiresome. It was always a treat to visit but in future, I'll think twice before parting with my money.

I can?t say the improvements enhanced our visit. This was a birthday treat from my family and I enjoyed their company. As feeling hungry I went for the big bowl of chowder. It was a big bowl but a small portion in it. I felt it was small portions for the large price was not value for money. I have a small appetite but still felt hungry after this small Dutch portion also It was not hot. Service slow had to keep asking for service, main dish, cakes and for drinks. We were patient but we could of been left without ordering had we not asked for service. I wouldn?t return in a hurry and especially not for a birthday treat. Different staff taking orders didn?t give continuity of service.

After reading the latest reviews we didn?t book for lunch, just had coffee and cake. I have to agree with other reviews sadly. This is one of local go to places, especially with visitors, we?ll be looking for somewhere new. Usually things change for the better, what a shame ?

Enjoyed a fabulous Festive Afternoon Tea here yesterday. Superb food, beautifully presented and the servers were excellent. A professional blend of friendliness and efficiency, delightful! Adjacent diners had lunch which looked pretty phenomenal too!

We?ve been visiting for years and have enjoyed watching the nursery grow from strength to strength. Sadly though, it currently feels like a victim of its own success. We booked for a family get together and all went for the festive menu. The food was fairly average and although the service was friendly, it was painfully slow. We were all fairly relaxed and happy to enjoy the time together but the wait to order food/get drinks/ask questions etc was so slow and frustrating! Our last visit for breakfast was exactly the same but we put that down to ?having a bad day? and we decided to keep the Christmas booking. Speaking to others though, it seems this is now fairly common and lots of locals are now choosing to avoid. To be honest they seem understaffed and struggling to cope with the volume of customers they now experience. Perhaps it would be worth restricting the number of bookings taken to ensure everyone gets to enjoy the lovely experience we know it?s capable of delivering? So, in the meantime we?ll stick with a quick cup of coffee whilst browsing the plants and look elsewhere for anything more than that. Ps some great other options within the town of Lostwithiel, just down the road!

Very poor - was expecting organic produce that tasted wonderful. We got luke warm - 2 slices of hard tasteless bacon, 1 run of the mill sausage, 2 eggs which were okay, 1 dried out tomato and 1 mediocre mushroom and lukewarm beans! The granary bread was nice. However, we were both disappointed and as we were leaving my husband made this comment - ?that meal was awful?. We had thought about booking the Christmas Lunch there but decided against. We won?t be eating there again. If you are near Lostwithiel - try The Mess Hall - the food is always excellent.

We we?re staying with family in at Tudy and they had booked us lunch for a treat. We?ve been before but not since it?s been done up. It was lovely walking in with all the Christmas lights, tress etc. couldn?t wait to sit down and admire the new orangey , as we were seated in the cafe due to it been so busy.. thankfully we had booked so didn?t have to wait for a table. Lots of families and couples eating afternoon tea, snacks, Christmas lunch. We all choose this option and was truly delicious. Not over faced with lots on the plate but great quality. We had puss, gin trifle full, and orange chocolate cheesecake in a glass. All of us was full up , so took our mince pie home to eat later. The lady that served is(tall with dark hair) said the Turkey lunch looked good and she hadn?t had chance to try it, we said you must as you won?t be disappointed. Great staff and service.

We live fairly close to The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery and cafe and visit often. Last week my husband and I popped in for a wander and visit to cafe. We chose the hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream and a slice of coffee cake to share. My only disappointment was that we didn?t opt for a slice each! I think we just felt a slice each together with the hot chocolate would have been a little indulgent? well you live and learn! PS I would love a copy of the cake recipe

Firstly on arrival the main car park has many holes, making it a very bumpy ride in. We have told the reception staff three times spanning the last six months. This could be solved easily with more grit. The new extension has the entrance door on the right hand side, why not on the left? We drive on the left, it seems the natural way to enter a building. I watched several customers trying the left hand doors and they too were confused. In the cafe, we were looking forward to having coffee on the sofa by the fire, it was disappointing that the sofa had gone. Once again the cakes were not to our taste, not the brownies and other lovely looking cakes that were on offer several years ago. The gardens are always wonderful, displays are beautiful, garden staff are helpful and the views stunning.

What a fabulous garden center. Fantastic plants and the shop is crammed full of fantastic things. The breakfast was outstanding too. Definitely worth a visit. Very highly recommended

Lunch in The Orangery on Saturday 9/9/23. Chose two course menu for £25. I had beef ragu which was average. My wife had seafood pappardelle. Very disappointing - 3 prawns, no pollock and little salmon.Looked as if they had missed off the sauce so pasta was dry. left two thirds of it. We have been coming here for 15 years as we live in west cornwall. Only second time in Orangery and disappointing both times. Food was better in old restaurant as was the value for money. No point in investing in new Extension if you have a poor chef

Gorgeous garden centre in the heart of Cornwalls countryside. A beautiful autumn woodland road took us up the hill and we ate a delicious lunch in the Orangery restaurant. Top marks for food, service and ambience

A wonderful start to our long weekend away. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the recently opened 'Orangery' at the Duchy Nursery. We enjoyed Beef Ragu with pasta ribbons, followed by a black cherry chocolate desert. The beef melted in your mouth & the desert, needless to say, left you wanting more. The staff were wonderful, despite being short staffed due to illness, they coped well & made up for any delays with their politeness & professionalism. Look forward to our next visit :)
