We did not stay but went for Sunday lunch. On arrival we used the toilets only to find there was nothing to dry our hands on. The waitress said they were waiting for a delivery of paper and towels. No temporary measure, like a box of tissues or hand towel, was provided. We dried hands by waving them around. The waitress?s attitude was arrogant and condescending throughout our time there. At the end of each of the two courses, we were asked ?Are you done?? Not the terminology one would expect from an establishment that calls itself a ?Boutique Hotel and Restaurant?.There were no condiments on the table and none were provided when the meal was served. We had to ask for salt and pepper for example. The table of four next to us had roast beef. Again nothing was provided for them in the way of condiments. They asked for horse radish sauce to go with their beef and were told by the waitress that the hotel had none.We too had the roast beef and I have to say that other than the beef the rest of the meal was ordinary and the dessert, sticky toffee pudding, was dry with little toffee sauce.Altogether, a disappointing meal and experience for £100 plus. I have had better meals for half the price.

We had a lovely stay at the Old Quay House. The room was spacious and clean with all the amenities you need. A wonderful view of the estuary from the room and the balcony. The staff at the hotel were extremely good at both dinner and breakfast. The food was lovely and the restaurant perfectly located with views over the estuary. The location of the hotel is perfect in the centre of the town, although I would advise following the hotel's advice to drop your bags off on the way to the car park so save dragging them all the way through the town! Plenty of places to eat and drink if you didn't want to eat in the hotel but we did as it was a special occasion for us. I can highly recommend this hotel and as we live not far away I expect we will be back again in the not too distant future.

We planned a rare trip away and wanted to splash out, booking the loft room with ?Prosecco on arrival? and a discount on the evening meal. After battling to find parking in the stifling heat, what we received on arrival was an uninterested and unwelcoming receptionist and no offer of Prosecco (we had to request this later in the day). As we had arrived early we accepted our room wouldn?t be ready however rather than being advised we could relax in the bar with said glass of bubbly, we were told we had to wait half an hour. We ended up going out to another establishment for lunch. The men?s loo was out of order with a handwritten note saying to use the ladies! The stair carpets were totally worn with the skirtings and bannisters mottled and in need of redecoration. Our ?luxury? loft room, was an attic room that was sweltering hot and the ?balcony? was unusable with a table and chairs being crammed in but you couldn?t sit at. There were also a multitude of weeds. Not at all inviting. On the terrace there was broken glass on the floor and the tables had burn marks on them. The evening meal and service from one employee was lovely however when we woke in the morning we found ourselves without coffee and my fiancé had to go down to request some. On leaving there was no discount noted on the dinner receipt. All in all a total disappointment! This hotel can certainly not be described as ?boutique? or ?luxury? and is absolutely not value for money.

The hotel is lovely with a beautiful view of the estuary. The food was good not great but above the average for Fowey. Our experience was made magical by a stand out member of staff. A young girl called Orin. Polite, knowledgable about the food and had a wonderful way about her. A real credit to the business, unfortunately the man working with her not so good. He spent most of the time talking and singing to himself and getting the orders mixed up?polar opposites I?m afraid! Keep up the good work.

This small hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the Fowey estuary, but in the middle of town. Arrival is via narrow streets and there is no parking at the hotel. The room was very comfortable and we paid a premium for estuary views. The restaurant food is fairly simple and cooked well. It was nice being able to walk out straight into the centre of Fowey and to nip back quickly if necessary. A boat trip on the estuary was the highlight of our two day stay.

A very pleasant hotel in a great position. We were there for 2 nights and had a lovely room overlooking the water. However the bathroom was very unpleasant ! In this day and age black mould on the tiles/grouting is unacceptable and avoidable. The mirror was also broken and one of the lights on the mirror wasn?t working. I did speak to reception about the above and was told she would mention it to housekeeping and the manager. Barely an apology . Sorry but not good enough

Lovely hotel, slap bang in the middle of Fowey. Loved having a drink on the waters edge listening to the hustle of Fowey all around us. Dinner was good - fairly uncomplicated and presented well. The two staff were professional and friendly, although seemed a little overworked and worried things weren?t quicker. They didn?t need to - this place is about enjoying the location. Excellent breakfast (although the coffee was far too weak). Room was lovely but for the money fresh milk and the like would have made a difference. Overall we loved it though.

Arrived bedraggled after long walk from recommended car park so had a drink in the bar which was very pleasant. Went up to room 3 which is a little shabby and very hot, especially considering the weather was quite cool and wet, carpet stained and furniture dated and marked. Went to shower before dinner but the shower did not work, no hot water which was very inconvenient. Called reception but it was closed and didn?t open until the following morning. My husband went downstairs to get help but there was only the restaurant staff who were unable to do anything. Requested a change of room but advised all were full. So washed hair in cold water which only flowed intermittently. On going to bed the fan did not work so tried reception again to obtain a replacement from the night porter. Again had to go downstairs to find him, in the kitchen, to get help. On checking out I advised reception of the problems and requested compensation. Receptionist advised she was not authorised to do this and I would need to speak to the general manager on Monday. Nobody called me and after I a week I emailed the hotel and received a reply advising nothing wrong with the shower but operator error!!! To be honest it was exactly the reply I had expected. The experience was very disappointing and the attitude of the hotel us appalling. Definitely not a place to recommend

The location centrally in Fowey is excellent right in the centre of activity. No car parking on site but you are able to deliver luggage prior to public parking some half a mile away - walk along the coast road / lane - & able to pick up on leaving - parking £6.80 / day & arranged through hotel - parking may be difficult during high season. Terrace over the river first class wonderful views & sun-trap - lunch available + drinks - great. Very very good food both breakfast & dinner excellent presentation & quality - would recommend in season imagine you must book. A Trencherman listed restaurant. Rooms - all seen well appointed / up-to date - due to age of building no lift hence would recommend any with disabilities request first floor room. The room allocated was on the 2nd floor & as 80+ year olds we requested a move & even though the hotel was full they managed to relocate us to the first floor an the second day. A lesson we have learnt !!! Ensure that we are in an easily accessible room. All this arranged by the excellent management & reception staff. We visited other hotels but considered Old Quay House to be the best location - cosy - friendly - we will certainly revisit

You must book the evening meal it?s was amazing. The beds are clean and comfortable. We didn?t have the Davies room, but it was brilliant. The bathroom is a great size and the room is nice and warm The waiting staff for the evening meal and breakfast was so polite and accommodating. The location of the hotel is right in the middle of the time so perfect to explore. I would recommend catching the ferry across from the looe side. As the drive to the village/town is so much better.

I booked this as a one night treat on my way to st ives. It was an expensive stay for me but as I say, a treat. On arrival - no one in reception, had to wait to check in, just one person on the bar and she was serving others. Downstairs space is beautiful, room less so. Bath had a huge crack in it. I had two windows, blind on one open, on the other closed. Opened the closed one and the wooden blind behind it was in tatters - obviously rather than fix it they had just covered it up! Carpet very worn and stained. The room was next to the stairs so noisy with guests which is inevitable but also very noisy early with what sounded like cleaners. Ate in restaurant and this was not what I was hoping for - I had lamb, it was fatty and tasteless. Breakfast was good. Location is great but overall it really needs an investment to get the rooms up to scratch

We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Room was very clean as was the bathroom but the bedroom got so so hot (we used the fan provided a lot!) . Lovely breakfast and the view from the breakfast room (used as the restaurant also) was superb. Great waiting staff who were chatty and very pleasant. All in all a lovely stay and recommended.
