Townsends managed a property for two and a half years, until I sold it, and did a very efficient job. They were responsive to any items which required sorting out and have a reliable group of trades-people for just about any task, who were all helpful and responded quickly.
Townsends' monthly reports were complete and accurate, making the chore of annual tax returns a lot easier.
First class and friendly service.

The single WORST letting agents I have ever had the displeasure to come across.
I moved from up country having no time to view the place and when I arrived they had rented me a completely different room.
I never got the chance to view it and when I arrived the mattress was broken along with the bed and they had told me they wouldn't replace it because it's perfectly fine. So I replaced the mattress at my own cost just for the bed to do the same thing to my new mattress.
Upon moving out they wouldn't agree to me leaving early even if I paid the rent in full for the month of my notice and then rang me to try to push me to move out sooner.
And finally upon my leaving inspection they have proposed deductions for debris on the floor that I hoovered myself the day before I left the property. And paid for a new coat hook to be installed that was broken upon arrival
The customer care team are awful I would advise ANY OTHER tenancy agents other than these.
I have shared houses and rented for 10 years and have always been praised on the way in which I leave the property and have NEVER had any deductions. This letting agency hold a standard that is impossible to meet so you will almost definitely lose some or all of your deposit if anything is left out of place.

My child was a tennant through your agency, I was guarantor.
The students had a large amount of their deposit withheld, for cleaning fees, even after the inspection said a light dusting was only required.
This review is no different to the reviews others have left.
This company is corrupt.
My child rented a property whilst at uni, we cleaned the property, purchased new mop / bucket cleaning supplies etc. The house was spotless. When the letting agent checked the property they said it was cleaned to a high standard and maybe a light dust needed.
I took before and after photos, the property was disgusting when my child moved in.
After the students moved out, Townsend's withheld £200.00 of their deposit for 'cleaning fee'. Which is illegal under the 2019 Tenancy Act.
I requested their after photos, proving their evidence of the standard of cleaning needed, which they didn't have and said new tenants were in the property.
The property is a tiny 2 bedroom house, with mould. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
I hope other students who rent from you are aware how you behave.
And, as others who have left reviews, this seems normal practice with this company.
We started proceedings with solicitors, the costs involved are very high, unfortunately.

My partner and I were looking for a long term rental and were really struggling to find a place that allowed dogs. Archie was such a great help in our search and provided lots of useful suggestions and information. Pretty much every other estate agent in the area either dismissed us or was straight-up rude when we asked. Our experience with Townsend was a breath of fresh air.

I changed over to Townsends as a landlord a few months ago and a lot has had to be dealt with during the short time I have been with them so I have got to know them well. They are extremely professional and every problem was dealt with swiftly and efficiently and they took a lot of responsibility off me with sound advice. I am so very glad that I have my properties in such safe hands now.

Very professional and friendly throughout the whole process. Were there to answer any questions we had whilst moving and couldn't do enough to help. They provide welcome packs at the end of your move which is a nice touch. Would definitely recommend and use again if the need arises.

We had a very professional and excellent experience renting with Townsends for a rental property in the Truro area. We liaised with Jodie who was always professional, kept us up to date with great communication and made the whole process very straightforward. Really recommend for professional renters.
