Self service check in, which you are expected to leave £50 pending on a card for extras. Which after 10 minutes of trying to find someone, we spoke to the manageress, who's great customer skills of being in the business for over 30 years was to say to us if you don't like it then you can't stay. Great way to greet your guests. And she runs the hotel. She would have a hard job to run a bath. Standard practice in luxury hotels now. Well we have stayed in a few in the past year and this was a 1st. The future I guess, like the check in.The double room was tired, 2 single beds pushed together. Mould on the walls and in bathroom. The self service Luke warm tea and coffee in the corridor is a new idea, maybe you could warm it up on the towel rail in the bathroom that you get 3rd degree burns from when sitting on the toilet. You could then go to the swimming pool that is freezing or the cold spa with only 2 jets that work just. I can break wind with more force than these.Credit where it's due, the staff in the restaurant and the food was good.On check out we were billed £5.85 which was a service charge for a glass of wine and a pint of beer that cost £21.85.This place used to be a lovely Manor house, it's now lost it's soul, no atmosphere as hardly anyone here, which we now know why. Overpriced, dated and disappointing.Best avoided.

Merchants Manor provides a quiet and relaxing experience second to none at a very reasonable price. Hotel furnishings are sumptuous, rooms are a good size and tastefully decorated and the food is excellent. The staff give great service, being conscientious but unobtrusive in their manner. Use of the swimming pool is an additional bonus!!

Upon initially enrolling, we acknowledged that the cost was relatively high, especially without flexibility in pricing for a 6-12 month commitment, unless opting for the couples deal. However, we were willing to overlook the expense due to the perceived tranquillity of the facility. My partner and I recently got into swimming which we have enjoyed however the pool is on the small size.Regrettably, our enthusiasm was dampened as we observed a persistent lack of cleanliness in the pool, with visible accumulations of skin, dust, and debris. This was particularly disheartening given the premium nature of the membership fees. Despite allowing a few days to pass, the issue persisted, prompting me to communicate my concerns via email.Disappointingly, the response received failed to address the essence of my complaint and provided information that proved to be irrelevant. Dissatisfied with this outcome, I took the initiative to call and seek clarification from Sioned, only to encounter a noticeable tone of passive aggression. When pressing for answers related to my original inquiry, she exhibited resistance and declined to disclose the schedule for pool cleaning, deeming it "personal" and responding with undue aggression.This interaction left me feeling both frustrated and unsatisfied with the lack of transparency and resolution. Moreover, Sioned's inclination towards suggesting the termination of my membership was perplexing, as such a drastic step had not even crossed my mind. In summary, while the facility offers a peaceful atmosphere, the issues encountered with cleanliness and unprofessional customer service have tarnished the overall experience.I will note that the ground staff in the building are very friendly.

Booked a last minute night away with my partner , we weren?t sure what we were going to be arriving to, but in all honesty it was a real pleasant surprise, beautiful hotel found it very unique, beautiful artwork and decor .The staff were very friendly and welcoming.Our room was clean, comfortable, modern and warm!We will definitely be staying again soon . Highly recommend .

Another wonderful stay at this superb hotel , as before staff are exceptional , lovely room and stunning hotel , superb food , nothing is to much trouble for the staff and there are lots of lovely touches that make the stay even nicer , the chocolate table , free teas and coffees all day and night , it gets better and better each time we go thank youFood & drinks: Stunning food always been three times now and never had anything bad food wise

We booked a break over Christmas, our first one not with family, so we were hoping we had made the right decision. We had, from arrival to leaving we had a lovely time. Lots of excellent food, little treats as it was Christmas, wonderful staff, so friendly, the bedroom was a big, comfy room, it was roomy with a view of the sea from the balcony. All the other guests staying were adults, no mixed guest tables when dining but you could chat easily to the neighbouring table. Our only grumble was that the room was very hot, even with the heating off, we think this was because the room was over the pool but we heard no noise from the pool.We would certainly recommend a stay and the Christmas break was very good value.

One night stay booked as a present, room was very spacious, bed huge and pillows the best I've ever had. We had a room with a balcony which was lovely but no window so room was very hot at night. Staff polite and courteous, food choice on the night limited to fish, pork or a salad. Unfortunately didn't get to try any spa, gym or pool options as suffering from a cold but hope to return one day

I booked an individual spa treatment online and emailed asking to amend my appointment with over 1 week notice, (their website says 24 hours notice) but didn't get a response. When I called to follow up, the receptionist was incredibly rude and hung up. I still haven't had any confirmation, and have not been refunded.

Stayed here on our wedding night and it was a lovey experience! We were upgraded to an apartment room for free upon arrival. Sadly we couldn?t eat in the restaurant due to an event going on, but it was made up for by platters of small bites delivered to the room. Staff were friendly, service was perfect and we would gladly stay again. Great experience. ?

Great three night stay at merchant manor. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff were all really friendly and helpful- always asked how your day was going etc.Location was so close to the town but still really peaceful and relaxing - thank youNearby activities: Close by the harbour / town and beaches - all walkable.Food & drinks: Breakfast was fabulous each day- good selections and high quality product
