Stopped for lunch with my partner, we both had the homemade cottage pie and homemade cinnamon apple crumble and custard. All the food was very tasty reasonable sized portions and hot. Been eating in here for years, I have generally always found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the food, especially the homemade options to be very good. Proper traditional canteen style dining and cooking, fairly priced, not over pretentious, and well prepared wholesome proper food.

Go up the stairs to this friendly restaurant and enjoy a pasty having spent time shopping in Trago. Places to eat are limited but the food is good and cheap.

Queued at 11.50 am and looked at the breakfast items. Eggs were sitting on top of hot cabinet and looked well past their best. Decided to go to the back of the queue and choose something else. Other menu items were available according to their printed board until 4.15 pm. Got to front of queue at 12.10 pm and asked for vegetable lasagne - none available. Same with vegetable curry. These appeared to be kept to the left of the kitchen (looking from a customer viewpoint). This led me to believe they were kept in a freezer when in stock! I settled on plaice, chips & peas and beef lasagne for my other half. Lasagne was "average" at best. However, the plaice arrived and first impressions were it was overcooked as the breadcrumb coating was a very dark brown. Cutting into the plaice it was actually hard to find any plaice and the little that I did find was extremely thin as to be almost worthless - no flavour whatsoever. The peas on both of our menu choices were undercooked and poor quality. My plaice meal was £8.95 - expensive for what was in effect a meal where only the chips were edible! I mentioned this to the young lady clearing the tray trolley and suggested she advise the kitchen of the poor meal. She was lovely and said she would but I don't expect it will lead to this establishment changing their suppliers. All in all an extremely disappointing lunch and we won't be returning to eat there.

Cannot fault the food,prices etc. Very tasty meals, clean eating area and great prices. Only wish I lived nearer. Trago did us proud.

My partner and I visited the Keg and Kettle yesterday for the first time while shopping. At this point we had never read any reviews! We ordered a Trago tower burger with chips with a beer and soft drink. To be fair, for the money, it was good! Chicken was freshly cooked, with a soft brioche bun and fresh lettuce and tomato with a side of coleslaw and pot of barbecue sauce. We also had apple cinnamon cake with custard for dessert, which staff brought to us later so it was warm and fresh.Yes, we had to queue as it was very busy, but, we found the very overworked staff to be polite and helpful.

Went for breakfast one of the ladies who was serving breakfast asked the lady chef if the food on the side was hot so she could top up the food for service the lady asked both chef if it was ready to go both would not help her and when she asked the lady chef the chef gave her a mouthful of abuse the lady said all I am doing is just asking so we had hot food I come here every week and after to day I will not come back the chef calls a big argument and in the end we walked out all the staff stop serving this was in front of all the customers. The lady was right if health and safety and food and hygiene walked in. There would be a big problem.

Don?t waste your time.Breakfast was revolting. Greasy eggs, mushrooms are cooked somehow but I don?t know how. No vegetarian sausage available so offered something called vegetarian nuggets which tasted foul and so greasy.No mushrooms on the small. Vegetarian breakfast? Surely there should be as it?s just a smaller version.Unable to eat most of this and had the effects of what was eaten all day.This is definately a case of You get what you pay for. Go on spoil yourself and splash out on somewhere better.

Waited 40 mins to be served, asked what we would like, and then they decided to get a pad to write it down and asked us again, have they not heard of PDA's which would be quicker and easier to use. Only 1/2 a cup of coffee out of the machine... then we waited another 40 mins for 2 jacket potatoes ... the staff in the kitchen didn't seem to have a clue. Not organisation. There's lots of banter going on, but not much else. When we got our food, it was luke warm at best and very mediocre. Needless to say, we won't be eating there again... we felt sorry for the ladies on the till and restaurant dining area. They were the only ones that seemed to know what they were doing constantly, busing cleaning and waiting on the dinners when their food was finally served up by the kitchen staff.

The worst breakfast ever. Me and my partner popped in for breakfast it was 9.00 oclock so thought it would be ok but no. No hashbrowns still cooking. no eggs. Had to wait 10 minutes while the rest of the food was getting cold. Sat down to eat and all was stone cold even hashbrown cold in the middle as if just defrosted . Eggs well . only partially cooked all snotty couldnt eat it . so we left breakfast and go to drink our coffee terrible tasted burnt and bitter. So that was £10 wasted. Staff very rude and not interested when complained . just walked away. Horrible atmosphere in there now . please get rid of these staff and get some that can cook and have some manners .

Well, where do I start? absolutely beautiful location, traditional and welcoming. The staff remind me of my favourite dinner ladies from my days in school. Oh, how it makes me reminisce of a simpler time. The food..exquisite. The ability of the staff to be flexible, to mix and match, and to put all of my favourite food together onto one plate, all with a wonderful smile, is truly something to behold and something that I hope Trago Mills is proud of. If there is a heaven, it is the Keg And Kettle.

They should sack the entire workforce and start again. Clueless,attitude problems, unhelpful. Today the chap in front of me was served pork instead of chicken. He knew I knew but the not so clever behind the counter.didn't! Had words with another server and my specially cooked to order meal was delivered to me cremated. Payback I suppose!
