Small village pub with good food. We went out of season, so it was a bit daunting walking into a pub with only a handful of locals, but they were very friendly and got the fire on for us!

Camped at the back of the pub on Sunday 7th Jan - the pub is with Brit Stops - in our motorhome (narrow entrance to the rear - our van is 7.3ft wide or 2.25m). Great welcome, good grub and a proper pub atmosphere. A little gem of a find. Very dog friendly. Thank you.

Lovely cosy pub, roaring fire, friendly staff, clean.I appreciated being able to sleep in the carpark overnight, flat and quiet, so that i could have a pint :)

Great little free campsite, toilet and shower, just buy a meal or drink to help the ongoing work

We came here for the free camping in the small field at the back so maybe we should not whinge. Initially we booked in for two nights but having tried their evening menu we only stayed the one. We found the landlord unwelcoming and having spoke to a local, heard that the village hopes to buy the pub so hopefully things will change soon. The food was fair priced but disappointing.

They have a free campsite here which is brilliant. Good flat pitches and a toilet with shower that you can use.We had a meal in the pub which for the most part was ok but one of the meals was not very good, nuked new potatoes which were quite inedible and Hunters Chicken which was just a butterflied chicken breast smothered in bottled barbecue sauce with a strange cheese topping! To be fair the staff were very helpful and understanding and took the price of this meal off the bill. It was probably just a one-off as they seemed to be having staffing issues. It is a quaint pub with a good atmosphere.

We camped overnight and it was great, very welcoming and had a quick tour around the site. We went for a walk around the slate quarry as food was from 6-9, we had a lovely steak and ale pie! Really lovely little find and dog friendly so we will be back!

Great campervan stop over site with useful facilities. Had a meal in the pub, which was good valve and nice. Friendly staff and landlord. There was an impromptu guitar jam session which was really good and created a lovely atmosphere. Would thoroughly recommend staying here and we will definitely be coming back again.

Stayed locally in Delabole for a week and can only say The Bettle and Chisel is a brilliant pub. Wish we lived closer as it'd be my local! Decent range of beers, brilliant staff, friendly locals who were welcoming and I hope this pub gets the support to keep going and fine tune the already great place they have. A community asset that I hope will thrive so its there when we revisit. Free camping is a bonus, along with the supplies available from the shop. Good parking, the food looked great and a relaxing garden for the dog and kids to relax in also.
