This is a proper ?Old School? pub, I mean that in the best possible way. We didn?t eat there but the food looked and smelled superb. We popped in for drinks a few times and it was just a nice place to be. Very good bar staff too.

The Bencoolen is a true gem for families. We?ve enjoyed many wonderful meals here all homemade, delicious, and excellent value for money. The quality is consistently high, and the warm welcome from both the staff and the locals makes every visit a pleasure. Had a nice bar meal here. The owner butchers his own cuts of meat. What we had was nice, but it wasn't ribeye steak. The mixed grill comes with liver and kidneys, which i enjoyed but is very rare to find. It's worth a visit. The bar maid was very friendly and helpful.

Best pub roast I have ever had. We came into Bude on a Sunday. Found this place and the food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Don?t write reviews on food but the roast was that good.

absolute gem of a place.
the food was amazing. hubby had the rib eye steak cooked to perfection. enjoyed every mouthful. I had the sirloin which was all of the above. staff are so friendly what a lovely pub. compliments to the chef who is also the landlord. gracias por una hermosa comida. we will definatly be back.

A very warm welcome from the staff, so much so we went back later for the Sunday Roast.
Absolutely spot on, delicious home cooked Sunday dinner, just like mother used to make.
