Thank you to the staff at this charming restaurant. My partner and I were really hungry on our way to Bristol and popped in for a last minute meal. We?re both vegan and we?re astonished by the variety of meals on offer for us! We had a great experience, thank you again to the staff!

Found the food extremely bland, Asian cuisine should have bold and vibrant flavours. But it just wasn't there on the plate... The price is pretty high end so would expect the food to be to the same high end but left disappointed ?

As a vegan family we visited this little gem for birthday celebrations. We were lucky as my birthday landed on a Thursday, which meant 20% off vegan food, which was a bonus. The staff were welcoming, helpful and really nice ?Food was amazing and my boys said it was one of the best places they've been too.Highly recommend

Some of the best food we've had in ages - I had the chicken and cashew stir fry, delicious. Staff were sooo lovely. Couldn't recommend enough.

At last! Ever since I was diagnosed with heart problems and changed my diet to a plant based one about eight years ago we have been trying to find an eatery somewhere in Cornwall where I live that understands that vegans don't just want to eat a darn vegan burger whenever they go out to dine. Finally we have found it and it was a complete delight. From the moment we walked in on a dull Thursday evening to the moment we left we were treated as if we were treasured guests. Probably because Hoi An is the restaurant of a independent hotel that still values it's guests and trains it's staff properly in the art of hosting, as opposed to part of a conglomerate chain who's only interest is shareholder profits. We were looked after in a way we have not been in a local restaurant for so long we had forgotten what it feels like. Anthony and a young lady who's name we forgot to ask (apologies) waited our table with great professionalism and just the right level of friendly familiarity at the same time as subtle attentiveness. Professionalism way beyond that which most younger folk seams to understand the value of. Fabrice the head chef and Lee the manager have clearly invested great time and effort (right down to making in-house seitan and other vegan receipt elements) in bringing together a range of vegan Asian/Vietnamese options which show that interesting vegan food can be delivered in the current hospitality setting even if the cost of living crisis is in full swing. The starter platter was delicious and very generous for two people, we then had the faux beef in black bean sauce and the faux pork char-siu with mixed vegetables and noodles accompanied by rice and more noodles. The vegan prawn crackers were also a fabulous touch. We shared a vegan dessert which also knocked the socks of most that we have had previously. The whole meal was quite frankly a revelation. We have only dined out in an Asian restaurant maybe once or twice since I became vegan as we have found that the only options have been simple (quite frankly lazy) mixed vegetable or tofu dishes which did little to inspire the price tag. To be presented with a menu of exciting and imaginative vegan Asian options was like being a kid in a sweet shop. We were so impressed we absolutely felt the need too speak directly with Fabrice to tell him how pleased we were with the food and to our pleasure found both Fabrice and Lee super willing to explain their passion and ambition for further developing their vegan menu. What lovely people. To top off the great evening we then found that Thursday evenings are vegan night and there was a 20% discount on the bill. What a lovely surprise. To say we will be back is such an understatement, it is fair to say that from now on Hoi An will be our first and preferred port of call for any eating out treats and trips going forward. Sure, the prices on first look might seem a little high but when you consider that a bit of fish in batter and chips almost anywhere in Cornwall (and quite often that will be a bit of Basa and have never seen the sea!) will now set you back about £16, Hoi An main course dishes at around £20 and for a platter which is super generous represent amazing value in our opinion. If you are vegan and thinking of giving Hoi-An a try we can only say, DO IT. We don't think you will be disappointed. If the alignment of dishes with their meat equivalents offends your sense of vegan purism we strongly suggest trying to get over it. In this day and age if we want restaurants to be able to deliver the innovative and time invested options that Hoi An are they have to cater for both the vegan purist and flexitarians who want to eat a greater amount of plant based meals whilst being able to have some expectation of what they will be getting. Thank you everyone at Hoi An you have finally proven to us that with care and effort it is possible to produce interesting vegan food in a dinning out setting in Cornwall.

I have concerns about this restaurant?s food hygiene - I had a severe stomach ache after eating here.Aside from that, the food was very overpriced. It tasted like a cheap takeaway for double the price. Both the service and atmosphere was ok, not great. We were very disappointed :(

Really lovely food. Lots of vegan options. Great service and very accommodating as we had a young child with us. Will definitely return if we come back to the area
