We moved to Bodmin in March and heard terrible things about the pharmacy including rude staff, late prescriptions and unavailable medication. Apart from the occasional unavailable medication, we never had a problem until today. Phoned at 12pm midday to ask if my daughter?s prescription (dairy-free formula) was ready and was told yes. I asked if collection between 16:30 and 17:00 would be okay, which again I was told yes. Turned up at 16:45 to find doors jammed shut with a chair and lights off. A blonde lady came to the door and, in short, said they were closed for prescriptions as they have no pharmacist after 14:00 which was not communicated over the phone. I made it clear that the prescription was diet-specific formula for my 11 month old daughter and that, due to an admin error from the GP (prescription request getting lost and being sent to the pharmacy late), I would have no formula to feed her if we could not collect today. The woman said we could not collect at the prescription hadn?t been checked by a pharmacist. I told her we had phoned earlier during the day and was told that collecting between 16:30 and 17:00 would be fine. Again, she just said they have no pharmacist after 14:00 and that my daughter?s prescription ?isn?t ready to collect anyway? which is clearly a lie due to the fact that it was checked earlier on during the day and I was told it was. She also didn?t go over to a computer to check so not sure how she would know that information without looking or even asking for my daughter?s name? She could clearly see I was a little distressed over the thought of having my baby go hungry as we cannot buy regular formula due to a severe dairy allergy but still did not offer any type of solution other than to send the prescription elsewhere despite other pharmacies in the area closing at 17:00. I then asked if her prescription would be ready to collect first thing in the morning which was met with a sarcastic response of ?no not first thing because we open at 9am?.
Clear lack of communication between staff which has now lead to me facing a decision of either hospitalising my child by giving her formula which she is severely allergic to or letting her go hungry for 12+ hours. I understand that medicines have to be checked before being released, however I?m asking for powdered milk to feed a child and we also collect her formula from this pharmacy every month, so they know it is something she needs and has regularly. The lack of care and rudeness was absolutely shocking. I only pray that nobody relies on this pharmacy to access lifesaving medication.

I've been going to Day Lewis Pharmacy for years now and have always been treated with kindness and respect. Thank you for your help and understanding ?

Now waiting 2 hours so I can return for the 4th time to try and collect my prescription which was ordered 13 days ago and I already received a text message saying it was ready. This is the 3rd month in a row I have had problems really gone down hill here

Sadly you can queue up for at least half an hour for your repeat prescription at Day Lewis Bodmin, and still leave without your medication! Every customer that goes in seems to create a problem for the staff, either the prescription cannot be found or its not on their computer which the staff spend ages staring at, or it's not ready yet, even tho they've had the repeat there for over a week, so you have to wait for it to be dispensed or checked, or they haven't got the right amount of tablets, or the right strength of tablets and they have to be ordered in for the next day. The place is a catastrophe and seems totally un organised. All this started when Asda shut their Pharmacy and Boots closed their 2nd shop in Bell Lane. More staff are required to get this Pharmacy running smoothly. To top it all, i understand that Day Lewis have put in an objection to a new Pharmacy in a road just off Westheath Ave, which I would happily change to using as its nearer my home. Please please get Day Lewis in Bodmin sorted out as I am sure that customers have far better things to be doing than queuing up in there and waiting for hours, then coming out empty handed, then having to repeat it all over again the next day. It's really appalling service.

A big Thanks to the team for fitting in my elderly disabled mother for her Covid booster after us missing it. Super friendly with great customer care. Andy

Well what a change around! Last week I would have said 1 star, mostly for the same reasons that others have mentioned. Today i thought I was in the wrong shop, polite staff, more seats out in a small waiting area, I was in and out in a few minutes and a pleasant experience for a change. Well done, keep it up!

Friendly helpful staff but long delays before being served.

The service supplied by Day Lewis is shocking. I went in for my repeat prescription this morning(29-3-25) after receiving a text last Thursday 27-3-25) to say it was ready. This was most unusual as normally I have to go in after 2 weeks of putting my prescription in and ask for it.
When I spoke to a member of staff saying I have come to pick up my prescription up she went to look for it. She came back saying the pharmacist was just finishing it. When the pharmacist brought it to me I said I will look and check as I have had too many months of items missing. On opening the bag I immediately saw an item which belonged to someone else, and only half of one of my meds plus 2 that was correct. I was missing 7 items and the repeat prescription which was stapled to the bag beloned to someone else. The labels on the bag had my name and address on it.This is breaking patients confidentiality and very frustrating for me. I am aware of the pressure staff are under but something really needs to change. 45 minutes later I had the correct items . It's not surprising that you can easily queue and wait an hour for you medication.

Every time you go in it's always queuing out the door and your repeat is never ready. Would avoid using them

DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY!!
You'll spend half hour waiting for them to engage whilst you watch them chatting then finally get motivated to put your prescription together but they won't serve anyone else until that one is done

I agree with the last review about no forward planning. Would it be a good idea to close for an hour or even too so that staff take their break and the rest of the time used to catch up with outstanding prescriptions plus the more urgent ones from that came in earlier that day?
Another idea would be to manage the queue , rather than deal one customer at a time with the repetitive questions , is it urgent , can you come back tomorrow ( only to queue/wait again)
Potentially have a queue for handing in prescriptions and one for collection
It might not seem feasible but you seem to be chasing your tails so a system will very quickly enable your staff to breathe and provide a great service

The staff are friendly but they don't seem to have any sort of system in place ie serving customers, preparing prescriptions, etc. Poorly run
They never seem to have any medication in stock. I always have to come back or take my prescription somewhere else. People are sat waiting for such a long time waiting for their prescriptions. I have currently been waiting 15 minutes. I saw 6 members of staff dotted around but no one seems to know what's what or who's who. Many patients are told that there is not stick for their meds and told to come back. This isn't always possible. Needs drastic attention and a system put in place.
Massive queues of people waiting
I over heard a member of staff complaining about a customer's and how much of a bad she she was having!.
Not professional

Awful pharmacy!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn?t even rate this pharmacy a 1star. my wife?s prescription was in store over a week and still wasn?t ready in time. They said it was going to take another 2 hours to be completed is that good enough? My reply was no?..as I didn?t understand why it wasn?t all ready to pick up straight away, as it was a week already that it?s been in store. The actual pharmacy lady then started arguing with me in front of other customers and was pure rude. I have now moved to another pharmacy that got it ready within 5-10 mins.
