Not a pleasant lady who dealt with my request, attitude like she did me a massive favour, also very slow.

Made an appointment to open an account - the soonest available appointment was a 4 month wait. Quite close to the appointment it was cancelled. Made a second appointment with a further 3 month wait. I turned up to the branch only to be told the only person at the branch who can open accounts is not in! Stupidly I have made a third appointment for 3 days time. Wouldn?t mind but I am trying to open an account, I?m not sure they want the business !

The staff are superb and very efficient. I certainly don't recognise the people mentioned in the poorer reviews.

Not felt welcome at all. Walked in to enquire about opening a youth account, having checked online all the documents required to do so and carrying them with me. I was told very abruptly that it could only be done by appointment in spite of the branch being completely empty, more than 1hr away from closing time and all 3 staff members being free (2 behind the counter, 1 in an office). No attempt to sympathise or accommodate me or even ask me when they could arrange a suitable time. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Avoid. Just walk across the street to any of the other nicer looking and more welcoming competitors

A pretty basic branch with poor facilities serving the Cheshire town of Wilmslow - while it isn't the worst bank in the city, that title has to go to Natwest further down the street - Santander really is highly below average and if this was my local branch I would strongly consider leaving the bank altogether, even though they do offer one of the better interest rates on current accounts right now. A lack of staff, ATM's and banking machines and a pretty old-fashioned feel of the store which is pretty small do counter into that, while also including the horrible opening hours where they not only open slightly later than average at 9:30 but they also close at 5 which is again slightly earlier than other banks, which is again frustrating to considering it isn't open on weekends. Not only was the store understaffed with little room for more staff at the counter, but service also seemed to move really slow and unlike other stores, there wasn't a separate and quicker queue to get pointed in the right direction perhaps with just a simple issue or query. 1*

Staff seem obsessed with talking themselves into redundancy by constantly encouraging customers to use online banking or in branch machines. 140 Santander branches about to be closed, so it seems the strategy works.
