We have been going here for a few years, although the last two experiences have completely put us off. First time we found that our dogs nails on her front paw had been cut too short. We were not told about this even though our dog must have yelped. But, giving them the benefit of the doubt we went back. Bad idea. Got a phone call on the way to pick her up, asking if it was ok for them to glue our dogs ear back together. In total shock we said yes. Got there and they had butchered our dogs ear (see pic) still expected us to pay for the full groom because ?they had completed the groom?. Did not expect to have to pay for the groom after this awful experience. Complained to head office who offered us a £10 refund (not even 20% of the full price) joke. If you value your dogs safety , I would defo avoid. Dreading the next time I need my dog to be groomed as she will now have ptsd from this awful situation ?

Pets at Home, like other pet stores, generally obtain their rats from rodent mills. These are large-scale breeding facilities that prioritize profit over animal welfare, often with poor living conditions. While some pet shops may also source animals from rescues or reputable breeders, the majority rely on these mills.
Elaboration:
Rodent Mills:
These are breeding facilities that mass-produce rodents for the pet trade. They are often criticized for lacking the standards of care seen in responsible breeding programs.
Chain Stores:
Many large pet store chains rely on rodent mills to supply their inventory.
NFRS and Rescues:
Some pet owners prefer to source rats from reputable breeders who are part of the National Federation of Rat Societies (NFRS) or from rescues, as these animals are more likely to be healthy and have good temperaments.
Health Issues:
Animals from rodent mills may be more prone to health problems due to the breeding conditions and lack of care.

Absolutely disgusting attitude from staff today. Went in for a goldfish for my great grandsons who have 1 in a large tank. So wanted another so they had a pet each. After waiting at least 15 mins asked again politely how long before we would be served was told there was only 1 person on. So continued to wait when a girl came bouncing out then when she asked how big me tank was an I told her.. she said the cant sell me 1 coz my tank is too small for 2!!!! Absolute rubbish. She obviously got disturbed from her dinner. !! Learn a lesson in customer service also about fish. You Absolute tool. !!!! I'd give no stars if I could !!!!!!
