Amazing food and atmosphere honest really impressed

I have heard so much about how good the Red Lion is, my Wife & I decided to go for a snack meal to see what it was like.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived which was around 12noon on Saturday. We ordered the Cheese Sandwich and Chips, and the Club Sandwich which also came with chips.
The food came and was nicely presented. I tried one of the chips and it didn?t taste right, it tasted fishy. I tried a couple more chips and they started to taste really terrible. My Wife was also experiencing the same thing.
We called someone over and told them we couldn?t eat the chips as they were disgusting.
They apologised and said they would replace them, and we were asked do we want fries, or he ?will make sure we get today?s chips? !!! We asked for today?s chips and they came back with a new portion which tasted how chips should taste.
I heard another table complaining about the chips who were sat next to us, who also sent them back not once but twice.
I?m alarmed that the chips aren?t fresh and to be told we were served old chips and not today?s chips. So it?s no surprise that my wife then had diarrhoea that night.
Needless to say after that, we won?t be frequenting the Red Lion again, if you do that with the chips, what is the hygiene like for the rest of the food.

We are so pleased the pub has been taken over by a new couple which we have no doubt will make a success of it.We went to the Pie and Mash evening and it was lovely all made by their own hands. We wish them every luck in the world. Thank you for a lovely evening. Xx?

Very rude customer service by a lady with glasses who said 'I'm just not feeling it today' to another colleague. No food, stated on website there was. Plenty of swearing by men infront of my young children. Would not recommend.

Went in for quick pint with son after work young man behind bar nice and polite and had a nice chat.Pub lovely and clean well done all.

Really nice pub in a lovely country village. I only had a drink, and it was fine it needs decorating internally it's dated but not in a good way.

Such a shame about thus place, in a great location, food was off, 5 customers on a Sunday afternoon, bar staff were pleasant enough but extremely poorly managed. Could be a gold mine in the right hands. Needs a bloody good shake up and a new manager

IMPORTANT - this pub changed hands some months ago and it no longer does food. We were told that the new owners don?t have access to the Google site or to the website either (which I find surprising) but means all the online information is wrong. My family and I went there last night after a long drive and they had no food and no beer on tap and the atmosphere was miserable. We were even asked to move table because they wanted to clean the table even though we were the only people in there. No one else in the lounge bar and no food - not just no food on Sundays but no food full stop. I appeal to the old owners of what was once a ?Gastropub? to give the new owners the ability to update their site so as not to waste anyone else?s time!

Nice place for a drink. Large garden to rear and nice indoor setting. Haven't sat in the courtyard area but believe this is also a nice environment to drink in.

Lovely traditional country pub. Slightly off the beaten track but very hospitable and friendly staff. They welcome dogs outside, not sure about inside. There's a nice open beer garden in the sunshine. Didn't have food so can't comment on that. All round a recommended place to visit.

Sorry to say, no atmosphere, rather empty of customers, not much beer, had to drink lager. No food on sunday evening. Cant recommend a visit.

Really nice traditional pub with a cosy lounge dining area and superb beer gardens. Plenty of parking, delicious food and friendly staff giving excellent service.

Visited for the first time and had the vegan lasagne from the specials. Food was great really tasty and a welcome change to have a great vegan option at a pub - especially as cooked from scratch. Staff were fantastic too really helpful and friendly. We'll definitely be back.

Called in for a late afternoon drink, few locals at the bar, friendly bunch. Would liked to have eaten there but no food served Monday or Tuesday. If I'm in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to call in
