Lunch for 6 of us this afternoon.Food and service was faultless !

Had a lovely stay recently to celebrate our anniversary. It was a beautiful setting and the food was excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well. The staff were lovely and friendly. The only criticism that prevents us giving 5 stars is that thhe room was slightly dirty around the window sills and there was an ugly crack in the ceiling and the bathroom was a little dated. Apart from that everything was excellent.

Five of us and two dogs had lunch at Willington Hall after a lengthy walk.We were made most welcome despite our rather dishevelled state !A most delicious meal of satay hake served in the bar. We ordered their homemade bread which was truly scrumptious, I would make a return visit just for the bread let alone everything else !!The chap that served us was great, nothing was too much trouble including provision of water and an order sausages for the dogs !A wonderful venue, will definitely be making a return visit !

I feel I must write and explain my sheer upset at my recent stay with you.Check in Friday was good, our room was lovely and the meal in the restaurant was very nice. Once Saturday morning came the whole experience went downhill.I was awoken at 7.45am by excessive noise outside in the car park and also people talking very loudly congregated outside reception, this was due to an organised hunt taking place, but no thought or consideration was given to us who were in the room above reception.Breakfast however was nice and then we went out for the day but reserved a window table for dinner with the receptionist. When we returned about 4.45pm, we were going to sit in the bar and have a nice drink but it was packed full of the hunt people so we had to take our drinks to our room.We then came down to dinner to be told there wasn't a window seat and were placed quite rudely in the doorway. The menu had changed and the duck I had was totally flavourless, most of it got wrapped in my napkin. My partner took his to the room but noone even asked us if we were OK, I had to chase up the drinks we had ordered to wash down the dinner...It seemed a lot more attention was been given to the non residents.I called down in the morning to order some fresh milk and was advised it was on the breakfast table ready, even though your brochure details you can order it to your room. Breakfast service was horrendous. The waiter served people who came in after us before us, food came before the drinks...the wrong food order came, the toast eventually arrived nearly after we had finished...there were all of 3 couples in the dining room.I feel very upset as also it was my birthday celebration and there was not one mention of this from yourselves even though it was mentioned on check in. I have never been anywhere where this has happened.Your hotel was recommended to us and I know my partner did a lot of research but I think you need to focus on your paying residents a lot more as I feel really upset and let down by you.

This is a lovely place and i booked a treat for mums birthday. Afternoon tea for 5. One veggie option. The normal tea/cake selection was mediocre and the veggie option was appalling. I was given a tomato sandwich! In this age of 3 million veggies/vegans in the UK and a whole host of superb and delicious food options, this speaks of a very lacklustre imagination or lack of care for us veggies in the kitchen. how about roast pepper and hummus, falafel, chickpea crush with peppers, even an egg mayo would have been preferable. Considering i was not charged any less either, this is not acceptable for a country house of this stature and for the cost. This was fedback at the time but nothing was done. A shame as it could be very beautiful and we would have returned many times had the standard been up to scratch. The service however and the house itself were 2nd to none, hence the 2 stars.

Checked in and given Room 2. The bed in the room is clearly as old as the building. The mattress was hideous and even though a double / king bed had a 3 inch step up to the other half of the bed. Had a terrible night's sleep no support and just sooooo uncomfortable. Please invest in the main part of someone's stay - the bed !!! Breakfast was average, upcharge for beans or hash browns.... and a charge to stay 30mins later in room. (Even though quiet and not busy) To summarise avoid the bed in Room 2 and Don't expect the best breakfast.

An overnight stay with dinner in the first week of August with hubby was most enjoyable. Large ensuite room overlooking the garden was comfortable and relaxing. We dined in the restaurant and was served by an attentive and hard working waiter. All in all a most pleasant breakaway.

We recently enjoyed a family reunion here to celebrate a special birthday. It?s a lovely country house hotel, very homely and welcoming. We ate here on both nights of our stay. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all. They made a special effort to look after the vegetarian in our group, which isn?t always the case. The cake that was provided by them looked and tasted great. The grounds were pretty and very peaceful. Michel and the other staff were always on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly. I would really recommend this hotel.

Great site of this beautiful building on arrival and easy checking at desk, room was very nice but poor view over the roof, never understand when hotel is empty why they don't put you in a better room and it was empty on 2 couples in for the night.we booked half board and evening meal was very nice, breakfast was a bit Moor disorganised no orange juice and extra money for basics such as beans and black pudding and service was disorganised to.but overall it was very nice.

In the age of high pressure internet intensity, Willington Hall is the absolute antidote!Calm, conservative, restful, a pleasure to unwind amidst such relaxing calming surroundings.Interesting varied menu for most palettes.Perfectly complementary wine list.Delightful Art Deco restaurant overlooking the Cheshire Plains.A must visit embracing all things delightful.Russell Bracegirdle

We stayed at Wilmington Hall for on night on Saturday 6 August. A book with the title ?Going The Extra Mile? caught my eye as it was prominently display on reception. Reception - well, there wasn?t any. We were left standing like lemons while Mr Grumpy - as we were later to call him -was serving in the bar. Eventually he came out and my wife commented ?You must be stressed? Hmm, he replied we?ve got a wedding as if it was our fault. Anyway he booked us in and then promptly disappeared. No one to help two disabled guests up three flights of stairs with their luggage. We found our room which on the face of it looked very good. Spacious with two Georgian windows overlooking the garden and park beyond. But no complimentary bottles of water. We then sat down on the sofa. Big mistake - it needed re-springing and re upholstering and if I hadn?t been wearing thick corduroy trousers I would have had them imprinted on my bottom. We went down for dinner and waited 20 minutes to be given menus. It was explained that as we were on a Dinner Bed and Breakfast package we had an allowance of £25 each. We were not offered the A La Carte menu. We ordered two glasses of wine which took 35 minutes to arrive, despite two polite reminders. We asked for a jug of water - but no ice was provided. Mr Grumpy was crashing around in the bar seemingly making it known to everyone that he was either very busy or very grumpy. Take your pick ! By the time we had eaten our crispy prawns (v good) and were half way through the Chicken Tikka Masala - (moderate only) the wine finally arrived. The bed was very comfortable but the bathroom was something else. Cleary a lot of money had been spent installing a new deep bath with a modern shower over it. Being disabled neither of us could get into it and if we had, we would probably still be there trying to get out. There was no extractor fan and the wash basin waste was virtually blocked. Very little shelf space for our stuff over or around the basin and no shaving light. No glasses for toothbrushes and no face flannels provided. Breakfast was very good. We both had a Full English with one sausage and one egg. If we wanted extra sausages, eggs bacon or black pudding it was to be charged at £2.00 an item. We had never had this before anywhere we had ever stayed. No morning papers offered. It was stated in the Hotel Information that if we wanted a paper, there was a shop in the village and we could go there and get one ourselves ! And the bill - £398.00. We had just spent two nights at The Royal Hotel in Waterloo for £408 which may not have had such pretentions of grandeur but which was so very much better. Going The Extra Mile ? - I don?t think so and we certainly will not be returning. If you?re looking for a Country House Hotel, go to The Traddock at Austwick, north of Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. The yardstick with which we judge all others.

We have recently had the pleasure of experiencing a weekend at this lovely hotel. It is in an idyllic location and the hotel itself has made the most of the 19th century mansion. All of the staff went out of their way to enhance our stay and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you for a lovely weekend.
