We have been wanting to try this place since we moved to the area. We went for their famous Sunday roasts, and when we saw the menu we so had to add the whipped goat cheese starter (It was divine! Whomever created that needs their own cookbook!) For our roasts we had one beef and one turkey. Also delicious both we both agreed the beef was perfect--slow-roasted to perfection and expertly seasoned. We were so full, but just had to try one of the sweet offerings. We chose the peach and elderflower crumble with clotted cream ice cream (we were given a choice of ice cream so we substituted this for the coconut ice cream noted on the menu.)
We couldn't taste any elderflower which we were excited to try, but as peach crumble it was delicious anyway.
Excellent service by Alan and a young man who I'm embarrassed to say we forgot his name. They really made the whole experience lovely--a feat considering how busy the place is on a Sunday afternoon!
We will be back again!!

Stopped in while passing through on the way home - a fantastic choice. Lovely picturesque pub, inside and out, matched by the service - which was attentive and friendly throughout. Will definitely pop in on our travels again!

We added a pub with good food to our Google Maps journey to North Wales and we were brought here. Great find. Lunch was great and staff lovely x

A group of us turned up this evening around 20:15 looking for dinner to a relatively quiet pub. We were told that the chef wasn?t accepting any more orders despite the kitchen closing at 21:00. A group walked in after us and were served dinner. People were also allowed to order food on the app with no issues.
Certain people then got their orders cancelled with no notification despite the app accepting orders. It seemed completely arbitrary as to who got food and what the chef could be bothered to do.
All in all very unimpressed. Clearly the chef just couldn?t be bothered and just wanted to go home. The Manager did not seem in a strong enough position to make the chef do their job for the hours clearly advertised on the website and google.

I booked a table for 3 for lunch. It's a nice pub with a pretty patio area. Sadly the food let's it down. We ordered fish and chips which was cold and didn't taste like cod. Salmon fishcake with poached egg. The fishcake was small, overcooked, dry and crispy, the egg hard, not poached. And mushroom pie which was a pastry case with nothing inside, maybe a spoonful of liquid and no mushrooms. We won't be back! ?

Came for a meal with my girlfriend we both had steak which was cooked to perfection, the manager was very welcoming and the pub and its surroundings where amazing would deffo recommend to anyone and will be returning, thank you jamie and team

Lovely pub in the heart of the Daresbury village. The gardens are beautiful and the food and service were really good. Would highly recommend this pub

Had a lovely meal in here on Friday evening at 19:15 by 20:00 the pub was virtually empty? But we enjoyed our meal and got really good service ?
