Faded glories. That?s my impression. Lovely big mansion which retains much of the original architectural touches but the rooms are beginning to look like they need a makeover. Just gap here in the bath caulking, just a wear in the varnish there. Small things but they add up.
Our bath/shower combo would not stabilise the temp of the water and our door was opposite the lift: ?Doors closing?, ?First floor?. On and on!
After a disappointing first night we asked for a replacement room. The manager was instantly sympathetic and apologetic and instantly gave us another room. No quibble, no hassle and even said they?d move our belongings whilst we were out. Service!
It turns out the new room was an upgrade. Whether it was compensation or the only room available, it was just the ticket. A working shower is a fine thing. ?
We only had breakfast so can?t comment on evening meals. There is a continental course of cereals and pastries and then a full English. All was very nice and service was just right.
All in all, a very good stay which although had a hiccup, was made good with a smile and gold standard service.

Stopped here thanks to a christmas Groupon present. The hotel is easy to find with Chester about 30 mins away. We got the Groupon room. Needs an update to the decor. We didn't eat here, we decided to try a local pub. Nothing against the Hotel. We just fancied popping out for tea. The grounds look amazing, and we both said a perfect venue for a wedding. The staff were friendly and super attentive during a breakfast, which was really nice. We would stay here again, we would book a nicer room direct if do. On the whole, it's a really nice hotel.
Rooms: The room we stayed in was called 'Lime'. Needs an update. It's the 'Groupon Room..'
Nearby activities: Chester 30 mins away. Oulton race track 5 mins away

BEWARE of this hotel. We recently booked a trip in April 2024 for the following April 2025 for a wedding in the area only for this to be cancelled 7 weeks before our arrival date due to a 'special event' at Nunsmere Hall.
We heard nothing from the staff there for 10 months and they had very little guidance around how we can get our money back as we booked through a third party. Each time we spoke to staff they seemed oblivious to the situation and had to start from scratch and in the end stopped even contacting us.

Went for afternoon tea, stunning surroundings, good food (although a spell check on the menu would not go amiss), enjoyed the experience and will definitely revisit

Booked the afternoon tea for a Saturday afternoon. Never been to Nunsmere before and was impressed with the building and the grounds, although we didn?t explore due to the cold November weather.
The afternoon tea was reasonably coordinated and the staff were attentive. Unlimited tea and coffee refills was a nice touch, and whilst the menu was a set menu, they allowed us to swap out sandwiches that we didn?t like for others.
The food was top notch. The sandwiches were elegant and the scones were divine. Plenty of choices for sweet treats and the flavours were spot on, nothing was too overpowering or overly sugary.
A bit more attention to detail in other areas is required for those of us that spot these things: marks on the tea cups and napkins, slightly mismatched cutlery sets, no sugar spoon for the sugar cubes so you have to use other teaspoons or your fingers once the other teaspoons are dirty. These small refinements would elevate the experience just that little bit more.

Had a family bereavement and called 30 mins after booking to cancel, spoke to Anna who was very empathetic and said there is nothing to worry about, we can?t do a refund but I can stay another night ?I?m sure there is something we can do?
Spoke to Andy hotel night manager 2 days later and tried to book me in but fully booked, which I completely understood.
This morning I spoke with Anna again to rebook and she said that they do not give refunds or change dates under their policy??? I then explained that she and Andy had previously agreed this and she said she would have to terminate the call as she is not prepared to be spoken t like she was, I did not shout or scream I just said ?so you?re going back on your word then?, which is fair enough.
Please look into this Nunsmere Hall you are better than this.

I attended a wedding and stayed overnight. The location is excellent, and rooms are decorated to a high standard.
