Shopping in Nantwich today with my two-year-old, I popped in for a few bits. While paying for an (admittedly overpriced, but tasty) kombucha, I asked if they had any calamine lotion for my girlfriend?s eczema. I?m nice like that.
They didn?t ? no problem - who cares. But as I was leaving, a staff member with big poodle-style hair started loudly commenting, ?You can?t put calamine lotion on a baby anyway?, complete with eye-rolling and faces.
For the record:
1. It wasn?t for my toddler.
2. Please don?t slag off customers within earshot.
3. Mind your own bloody business!
4. An arbitrary google search and a pharmacist friend of mine both confirm calamine lotion can be used on babies if needed ? but again, it wasn?t for one.
Politeness and social awkwardness stopped me from saying something at the time, so I?m saying it here.

My wife and I went to the shop today during the COVID lockdown. I walked into the shop and was immediately and rudely told to wait outside while it appeared the staff were having a chat. I was trying to support my local but won't be going in there again if this is how it is. Not sure how businesses can turn people away given the current situation. I'll order my stuff from Amazon now. You've lost a customer. Next time think about how you talk to people who want to do business with you.
