Crown is a fantastic old pub with a hotel above. This is the first time I've had food over the years. The prices are a little higher than you'd expect from a pub mainly due to it being a hotel. Steak and Ale pie was £19, the pie was lovely, tasty dark ale gravy and nice chunks of meat in it. The chips were a little overcooked for my liking and quite hard to bite into but this probably depends on the batch. The beer battered onion rings tasted frozen and were not great.
There is a wide selection of beers, both cask and guest kegs such as Cloudwater which is great to see. Prices again are a quid more than you would pay at other pubs in the area.
Service was friendly and they were doing a good lunchtime trade so the atmosphere was good.

We came here for a birthday meal after finding 20% of on their website for Thursdays if seated before 7:30pm. When coming to pay the bill and presenting proof of this 4 different staff members were sent over to ?check?. We were told this wasn?t valid and it was from an archived website 8yrs ago but it stated the website was made and active in 2024 on the bottom. After having the manager shove his phone into our faces in an aggressive manor demanding us to find it on his phone he then went on to make a few patronising comments. He made it clear he wasn?t going to give us the 20% of or anything as a gesture of goodwill considering that if the website is still activar it?s false advertising. We felt it was handled extremely inappropriately and if handled better we would have been happy to pay full price (we did anyway). It?s a shame as we have been a few times but unfortunately we don?t feel comfortable to return after being treated with such a hostile attitude.

Good breakfast and helpful staff. Our breakfast event was attended by 40 people and we were served quickly and efficiently.
The echo in the ballroom spoilt the guest speakers words. Otherwise good event.
Had a meal here 21 May 2021. Meal good quality but service (slow) not yet up to pre Covid standards.
Dined here last night for our wedding anniversary ?
Superb meal and staff excellent.

A lovely meal, the battered fish was excellent, the chips very good, the home made tartare sauce was superb, the mushy peas were dry.
A pleasant experience, thank you.

My Husband and I came for a meal on Friday after the light switch on. Such friendly staff nothing was to much trouble my meal should of come on a wooden board but ask if it could be on a hot ? plate no trouble at all. Food was tasty. That's the good bit. Not so good was for two members of staff who in my opinion delt with a diner and there complete very professional hats off to them both, yes it was a big mix up and made us uncomfortable .by the diner,as she would not let it go ,the poor staff, they were called rude , but kept very carm. But we had a very nice meal. Thank you.?

Quaint Elizabethan grade 1 listed building. We stayed one night after going to a wedding evening party. We enjoyed a lunch in the bar before we went out and a nightcap in the bar on our return enjoying our surroundings. A very unusual old building.
