My grandma came in yesterday to unblock a card, the man she spoke to was reluctant to help her and tried to say they couldn?t unblock it because it was a card from a different bank. She had already been advised by someone from her bank that nationwide could unblock it. So when she told him this he had to help her. Not nice to hear that your grandparents are being treated like this.

An excellent customer service starts with actually listening to customer needs and guiding the customer to solutions. This is exactly what Ana at reception did and she had patience and desire to answer questions properly.I didn't receive the same welcoming attitude at competitors banks nearby so well done to Nationwide and Ana.

Boring bank

Visited the branch yesterday and asked them to print a copy of an old bank statement from a particular month, as Nationwide's call centre advised that this was the only way to obtain a copy quicker than the ten working day service that they can offer over the phone, and the statement couldn't be accessed via online banking.The branch was empty aside from the five members of staff that I could see. After being initially told that they couldn't print out a copy of a bank statement past a certain point in time and then changing their mind, it took the team 40 minutes to print out the few pieces of paper that I needed.The member of staff that served me was new and so can't be really be blamed, but their colleagues didn't seem particularly concerned that a customer had been stood at the customer service desk for more than half an hour while their printer spewed out a few years worth of bank transactions that weren't required or asked for.If you value your time I'd advise sticking to online banking wherever possible.
