I hate to leave local business a bad review and will always try to support independent companies where I can, but our experience with Glass & Stainless has been well below par. Getting a glass balustrade installation for our raised patio was something we've been looking forward to and contacted G&S alongside other local businesses for quotes. They came out cheapest and could install before our deadline which was great! Dave came out to measure up and the upfront fee was paid. When it came to installation, I was surprised to see the work had been subcontracted out to K-FIX - A firm based near Sheffield. Granted they were pleasant enough and followed G&S designs and measurements to find that they were incorrect. This meant the job was left unfinished for a number of weeks. When asked G&S for an explanation I was told "I'm only human, people make mistakes". Of course, a reasonable explanation but as the customer we were to miss our deadline and was not compensated for this in any way, shape or form. When K-Fix came back to finish the glass again, there was another mis-measurement on one of the gate elements which meant further delays. At this point we just wanted to see the back of G&S as it had left us with a sour taste on what is a really nice product. To conclude we tried to talk to G&S to see once more, if there was any compensation for the delays and two mistakes made on their part, which we were told no hence why we've had to share our story to other potential customers. G&S order the glass in and subcontract the work out, so to mess up the only role they had on measuring the job (twice) seemed to us a little obscene. I hope their service improves in 2022 for the next customer and hopefully us sharing our story can help.
