Genuinely have no idea why people would attend Total Fitness Chester?
GYM: no better than Gym Group / Pure Gym, maybe a little quieter but older equipment than those 2, plus new JD gym opening nearby. Also considerably more expensive.
Staff / Pricing: Very old fashioned and sleezy feel to it's pricing structure, one of / the most expensive gym in the area, aggressive sales tactics, add on prices needed to access many of the services (Childrens swimming extra, Small classes cost more etc.)
Classes: If your main focus is classes, you'll get better quality from FACTR, BABE Fitness etc. - Very difficult to book total fitness classes (Many booked 1 week in advance) puregym etc. also always has space in their classes so no need to worry about planning 5+ days in advance.
Pool: The only reason you should consider it over JD Gym, Pure Gym, Fit Group, FACTR etc. is because it has a pool, and honestly once northgate opens up again this won't be a selling point. The pool is OK, overall poorly maintained, changing rooms are grotty with bugs, the whole thing feels super dated.
They also sold the parking to a third party company (not sure why, you can see via land registry they own it) so expect a hefty fine if you stay too long.

Gym equipment good although for the high costs the Showers area is very un hygienic in recent years with just splashing a hose around not deep cleaned with lots of limescale and grime building up around the place plus facilities arnt always working won?t be renewing my contract

Pretty well equipped gym. Currently no queues or waits for machines. Organised classes are excellent as is the pool although there has been considerable work carried out on the wet area resulting in limited access on occasions

Usually go to Prenton one, which was having its pool refurbished. To be accommodating, rather than freezing membership I went to this one as recommended by Prenton staff. When I arrived at Chester TF, I told them this and they mentioned nothing about any special procedures for car park. Then received car park fine for parking in TF car park whilst paying almost £600 a year in membership fees. TF customer service refuse to do anything.
Update: Total Fitness claim they do not own the car park, and so cannot do anything. I have checked with land registry and definitely proved they DO own the car park. Total Fitness have been caught out lying about this. Others beware!

As a member of Total Fitness I use Chester quite a bit it?s not the best of the fitness clubs that they have but it?s of a decent standard. Pool is good. Hydro pool is on timer so you have to move around to have a continual experience but other than that, all good.

I have been going to this gym since it opened A lot of the equipment is looking tired now Some of the markings of some of the equipment has worn away that?s how old they are Today as is sometimes the case there were tumbleweeds of dust etc all over the place I don?t use the showers anymore as they leave a bit to be desired

Pool is not as clean as it should be

Well equipped gym, not enough benches though, at peak times you may have to wait.Big minus: The music is usually too loud, sometimes to the extent that it?s hardly possible to listen to your own tunes in earphones.Decent pool however it is not cleaned often enough, and at unexpected evening times 4 out of 6 lanes can be blocked for classes. The showers and changing rooms aren?t very clean, unfortunately. Not the staff?s fault, but there are a lot of members with poor gym ethics, weights not put back after exercising, walking across your gym mat on the floor in the stretching area - the gym should put a bit more emphasis on such standards and educating members.Sanitiser seems to be no longer made available so even if you wanted to, you won?t really be able to wipe down the equipment after using it.

Great pool/sauna facilities when they're all working and at a sensible temperature, which isn't often the case... Doesn't help that people pour water on the electric sauna stones and steam room sensor.Plenty of squat racks since the refurbishment, tonnes of cardio machines and top-notch classes, but not enough free-weight benches/cables to meet demand when it's busy. Also there's about 3 different generations of machine, so it can be difficult to keep track of progress as 20kg on one is completely different to the same weight on another.

Great place to work out

Very friendly staff good gym floor and equipment.Unfortunately the water in the showers is sometimes very hot and has been weeks since the the water temperature is unstable. My son just got a red face from a surprised boiling shower.Corporate probably has a terrible system to sort these kind of issues that let their staff and members down.
