It was fabulous! The waiter was so attentive and couldn?t do enough to help! He is a credit to the restaurant. Food was lovely, definitely recommend.

Would definitely recommend this place. I loved the secret garden, staff were great and attentive. Cocktails were great too. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Chester.

Attended for a booked afternoon tea in the secret garden. Food was fantastic, loved the little sausage roll and savoury alongside fresh finger sandwiches. Cheery scone was light, warm and delicious. And the cakes were of a good choice and tasted delicious and fresh. Choice of tea, coffee and herbal teas. Loved the live singer and a nice atmosphere and surroundings. 100% would return again.

This is a lovely little restaurant but I?m sorry we were disappointed with the tapas we ordered. We were told the portions were quite big, but sorry they were not at all. We got 5 little plates of just about a mouth full on each and a jug of sangria and was shocked at the price for what we got £54?I wouldn?t recommend it at all

We booked an afternoon tea for our aunts 50th and had come up to Chester from London for the weekend. Although the afternoon tea itself was nice, the visit was problematic from start to finish. One of our party members was disabled and the disabled access was blocked by guests cars at the hotel which we understand that the staff cannot necessarily control, however the access was also blocked by storage boxes which all had to be moved so the wheelchair could get into to the venue. It was quite an embarrassing experience and drew a lot of unwanted attention to our party. When we were finally at our table the roof was leaking onto the table and chairs, but there was no other table available to accommodate the wheelchair for us to move to. The manager kindly offered us all a free complimentary drink for the trouble, however when bill came we were charged for the drinks. We asked for this to be removed, we were then handed another bill that had charged us all for an alcoholic afternoon tea which again was incorrect. The whole experience from start to finish was not enjoyable, as I?ve mentioned above the manager did make an effort to turn things around but unfortunately there were just to many complications. Overall a disappointing visit.

We didn?t stay over so can?t comment on the rooms but if they?re of the same standard as they are the restaurant/bar area it is amazing! The staff were very helpful and the food/drinks were delicious! We stopped in for a coffee and sausage/bacon butty before we set off for the Santa dash, we had our dog and they were very dog friendly, which was lovely and unexpected as the place is quite posh. Will definitely be back for more food and would recommend this as a hotel for all our dog lovers.

Great service, friendly and fast. Starters were delicious. Only gripe was roast potatoes weren't crispy and tasted warmed up. Would definitely return.

Not the best. No-one to greet you, or check everything was ok. The afternoon tea comes out the moment you sit down and you can tell it's been sat there for hours. Barely any fillings in the sandwiches and really not a lot for the money. Everyone else looked unhappy as well so not a great atmosphere either.

Booked an afternoon tea to celebrate my daughter?s 30th . Chose the £24 per head , what a disappointment!
The table was set with 2 stained and cracked cups ( only fit for the bin !)
We were very excited & hungry ! we had saved ourselves from lunch as we were booked in at 2.30 .
The food came it looked nice but a bit sparse on 2 servers . We had 2 small sandwiches each (1 slice of white bread ) 1 small slice of sausage roll ( which by the way was one of the tastiest iv had ) I small prawn cocktail on a circle of bread ? 1 strawberry dipped in chocolate. 1 small scone and 3 small other fancies , 3 of which were untouched . Macaroons !
2 glasses of Prosecco £17 , glasses being the smallest you can get !
Service was ok but no one around to pay at the end . Also a service charge of 11.30 was added without consent??
All in all a very disappointing £124.30 for 4 spent ! Will not be returning.

We booked the afternoon tea in advance for Saturday afternoon because of the good reviews.
We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation and waited a while to been seen to. The man who showed us to our table made a hash of trying to find our reservation and then said "sorry, this isn't my usual job." He asked if we would like some water for the table (we said yes) and then we never saw him, or the water again.
The restaurant wasn't busy, but there were tables either side of ours that were still covered in crockery and food from the guests who had left before we were seated.
15 minutes after being seated, we were asked what we would like to drink and the drinks were bought out after about 10 minutes.
I asked one of the servers if there was any chance of having the dirty tables cleared and she didn't seem too happy to have been asked but did it reluctantly despite not being busy.
The food was delivered about 15 minutes after the drinks and was OK. Not the best afternoon tea I've never had, nor was it the worst.
Nobody ever came back to the table to check that everything was ok with the food or to see if we were ok for drinks. We had to go and find a member of staff to ask for the bill.
