Lovely place with lovely staff but I would not recommend a Sunday lunch. Tasteless and seriously tough meat. Been there a few times for a beer but not tried the restaurant so can't comment.Nearby activities: Great walks around Chester especially the walls and along the river. Great shoppingWalkability: Couple of minutes from the centre of Chester.Food & drinks: Good selection of drinks / beers but not tried the restaurant

Great Location and lovely Quirky Hotel. Had Afternoon Tea there for a friends birthday which was lovely Staff couldn't of been more helpful.Room was lovely and clean not overly big.Have to say not enough tea bags only one and I was in a double room lol.Breakfast was lovely and fresh and really nice.

Booked a night through Virgin Experience day as a Xmas present.The cost of the package through Virgin, with a 20% discount, was £156, but the cost of the room was £107, so I overpaid by £50. I did raise that with the hotel, but they ignored my emails about it.However, the hotel was clean, tidy and had some lovely people working there.Not too impressed with the room layout, which included a glass frosted shower cubicle.Just felt odd that you can be watching the TV whilst your wife is having a shower in the same room. Quirky, no, just strange.Breakfast was excellent and the night porter was very friendly and helpful.Rooms: Nice room, but the glass shower, strange!Walkability: Just off the main City centre

Visited recently for the afternoon tea with santa with 2 children. Overall it was OK, seating area was nice and actual santa visit was very good. My main disappointment lay in the food and gifts that were given. Food was OK but tea and coffee was slow and usually quite cold. The gifts from.santa were the worst bit, for what we paid per person we expected more than one of ghe oddfellow elfs running down to home bargains on a budget. Labels even left on. Wouldn't do this afternoon tea with them again I'm afraid.

Be wary if you are thinking about Oddfellows for large parties or events.Very poor communication via email to arrange events leaving myself unclear about the cost of the evening, and then overuse of ?smiley emojis? when responding to concerns in an attempt to resolve matters.This same party organiser on the evening was very cold and when asked, would not deliver us our dishes for the 2 party members who weren?t able to attend due to illness.Shame as the food was lovely and private room was presented well which is why we asked for the dishes to be brought out that would have been for our 2 absent party members. Their costly minimum spend price I thought would have warranted that!

Been to chester every December for the past 5 years different hotels but when we found odd fellows by chance couldn't believe our luck it is a hidden gem got everything you need the staff were lovely very helpful the girl who does the cocktails at the bar looked after us very friendly lovely girl the 5 stars could be plus 5 great great staff defo booking for next year well recommended

For 2 years on the trot I have been hosting a Christmas event in their private dining 'Tea Room'. There's an obvious reason for returning back this year. The Event team are more than helpful to begin with. As for the event itself, the food is incredible, the accommodation for dietary requirements with a vegan menu produced on request. The room is dressed beautifully and couldn't recommend them more. Special shout out to Natalie.If you're looking to book a Christmas event next year, let me know before you do so I can secure my date first!

Loved this place! Great restaurant (Italian) across the street. Lobby bar is wonderful, service is great, rooms are quirky and fun. Our room had a round bed. Kinda, "what?" But the room layout worked with it and the two nights we spent were very peaceful. Will request that room again!Rooms: Very clean and up to date, a little quirkiness but it works beautifully. On my list forever.

Great location for sightseeing. Overall, hotel good but a few areas could be improved upon. Service: poor at breakfast with young waitress who didn't seem to have a clue. The waitress at dinner was clumsy on a couple of occasions. Her appearance/dress looked like she'd just chucked on a dirty jumper and jeans!!The room was comfortable and clean but has a glass (opaqued in the middle section) partition to the shower & loo.As liberal as we are there's some aspects of our bathroom habits which we like to keep private. So a glass screen is not very pleasing!We like music, but having a pre-dinner drink in the bar was disappointing as the music was so loud we couldn't chat.Overall, the place is nice, such a shame about staffing/music issues which with a bit of training and consideration could be sorted.

The staff is not ready to help (with luggage for example) we had several problems, the phone didn't work, the minibar didn't get cold, the shower didn't have water (one of them) we had to go and ask for hot water..... cleaning, The sink tap hadn't been cleaned for a long time, I definitely had to clean it, when I turned on the tap, a black paste came out and came out ? it needs maintenance and renovation of some things. The hotel doesn't have an elevator, which for those with children or reduced mobility is not good. The breakfast was good. It has its charm.Rooms: Toilet was not possible to stand up in.

Great location, Great hotel. we stayed in the attic of the old building room was nice but needs a little spruce up, new TV, new mini bar, lick of paint. Oh and mind your head on the bathroom roof. The bar and garden are brilliant.
