Classic family-run pub with a great atmosphere and menu, including Sunday carvery. Always made to feel at home, regulars are always welcoming, with a fire in the winter and large beer garden in the summer. Plenty of room for kids to run around outside, and dog friendly in the bar! The perfect pub.

Tasty Sunday lunch, choice of beef, pork & turkey carved off the joint, good quality. After being served your choice of meat you help yourself to roast potatoes, choice of veg , gravy & sauces all good. Drinks served at your table. Could have done with both fire's on as was a bit cold during meal. Good staff & service.

Visit The Mad Cat if you want to feel right at home in a traditional pub atmosphere; you'll find authentic friendly faces, delectable food of excellent quality, and Kirsty and Darren will make sure nothing is ever too much trouble. I enthusiastically endorse the Sunday roast buffet, which features an assortment of meats accompanied by their respective garnishes. Don't delay visit today!

Called in for lunch, the place is quite outdated & not very clean. A vacuum cleaner had been left in the dining room still plugged in with the cable stretched across the floor, there were a couple of chips under another table & quite a few cobwebs. There was a large dog in the dining room which didn't bother us but then a cat came from the kitchen & got on a chair at our table again it didn't unduly bother us until he walked across our table & we had to lift him off. We were the only people in the pub & had ordered food on arrival , after 45 minutes we asked where it was & were told it was taking a while as they were trying to find things! It finally arrived after waiting almost 1 hour , ridiculous given that we were the only customers there, the young man & woman serving were very pleasant but it seemed that they were on their own & trying to do everything. Won't be returning

Just tried it this evening as a birthday treat from my girlfriend and to say I was disappointed is putting it lightly. The only decent thing was my steak but no sauces were offered on the menu everything else was a let down. The decor, well there is none, when I go to a restaurant I don?t expect kids toys over the floor and tables and I certainly don?t expect children running into the room shouting and playing. We were the only eating guests inside yet the area designated as the restaurant is more of a play area and to hear one of the staff behind the bar ffing and blinding, I?m sorry but there was children around, I find that appalling. My girlfriend went to the ladies and yes no bloody toilet paper, unforgivably.I hope the owners read this because they need to.Will we return, I?m sorry no. You get one chance when you?re charging customers for a meal and service and you failed.

An Indoors BBQ for 20 people like no other was held during Storm Antoni where the innovation, patience, skill and professionalism of Darren, Kirsty & Mum Karen were tested to the max. The complete hot BBQ was cooked to perfection in the small kitchen (including well-caramelised onions for the hot dogs) and we all were accommodated in the dining room. Service was on time and there was plenty at £10pp to go round with some having seconds.
