Had lunch to check the restaurant out before booking a dinner- we were served dry bread with a thick slab of fatty beef, with a little bit of mustard, so dry! And supposedly served with crisps and salad, had about five burnt crisps and a couple of leaves of garnish. Needless to say we had our dinner in the nearby Oundle. Very disappointed as had great expectations based on the reviews here.

Enjoyed a delicious meal in this beautiful pub. Excellent gluten free provision on the menu and delighted to find gluten free pie!!! Such a treat. Also have gluten free desserts...though we were too full to enjoy them. Highly recommend, thank you.

Such a fabulous pub. We popped in for a drink one Friday evening and couldn't resist eating, as the food all looked fantastic. We sat out in the garden and everything was delicious. The fish and chips was outstanding, with perfectly cooked fish and batter that was crispy, but light as a feather. Perfect!!
Service was brilliant, with just the right level of attention.
I forgot to take any pictures, but I'll remember next time!!
Very highly recommended.

First rate gorgeous village pub, excellent location with plenty of off road parking, terrific food, way above what?s considered average these days plus lovely friendly hosts Madison and Zack

Pub looks nice but took a while to be acknowledged at the bar. Couldn?t even order small snacks to eat at 1.45pm as they said we hadn?t reserved a table but they weren?t that busy, just had 24 covers to look after. Needs better management clearly if they can turn paying customers away. Staff didn?t seem bothered att all. Menu looks overpriced anyway so perhaps we dodged a bullet!

The food and service here was great. Unfortunately the garden room could do with a good clean around as the paintwork and skirtings were grubby and the light fittings were smothered in lots of cobwebs. Apart from that all was good.

Lovely village pub that has had received AA food excellency rosette for numerous years. Menu is varied and rich, service is friendly, prices reasonable.
We unfortunately couldn't make it in time to the pub on time before the kitchen closed-two years ago. So now while having a good summer, we made an effort to stay in the campsite nearby and we made sure to book a table. The pub gets very busy and reservations are advised.
Very much enjoyed the reproductions of famous historic pictures relating to the history of the village, especially Mary Queen of Scots.

Just popped in for a pint on the way through, really quaint little pub. Really nice beer garden and a nice-looking restaurant. Staff were friendly and the beer was good.

So very disappointed with our lunch today. I haven?t visited this pub for some years. I?ve always had outstanding food here in the past.
Today certainly wasn?t a great experience. When we arrived, we waited in an empty bar for 5 minutes. I had to go round to the kitchen to find a member of staff.
We chose from the bar menu. I ordered the pie of the day, this was spiced lamb. The pastry was lovely but the filling was mainly little pieces of fat. I couldn?t taste any spices at all. The mash very lumpy, it wasn?t seasoned and was extremely bland and dry. The vegetables were watery. The gravy was watery and tasteless.
On a positive note the staff were friendly. I gave the young lady some feedback and she did offer to adjust the bill. We declined this as getting money off was not our intention.
Come on guys, surely you can do better than this!

Ordered a brie and bacon sandwich in guiness bread, with salad and crisps sounded very nice, un fortunately it wasn't, they had lightly toasted it, why! it was so hard, had to drink water to get it down and hardly any brie in it and a spoonfull of watercress with a tiny amount of cucumber that's NOT a salad, what a disappointment, I mentioned it to waitress who said she could take it back, I didn't bother, just won't go back again shame!

Disturbing, unforgivable and plain rude behaviour was demonstrated to us by the patron of the Falcon of Fotheringhay who refused to serve us last night as she did not like our means of transportation.
