Sunday lunch at 1pm.
Yes, of course it's going to be busy but service was prompt and very fruendly.
3 roast beef, medium rare and delicious with a rich gravy, roasties, Yorkshire, celeriac puree and red cabbage. An excellent meal, accompanied by Ghost Ship 0.5% (although the beer selection is good).
Classic affogato for pudding.
Only drawback is the size of the carpark....the one-way system at least avoids incidents.

A charming pub on a chocolate box village green, often twinned with events. Now owned by local chain. The conversion of outbuilding to pizza oven/bar is an excellent change for those with kids and who want more casual/outdoor food. Not cheap but many a pleasant summer evening spent here in hot 2025. Not cliquey and increasingly vibrant with the new housing (and a bit more Essexy, just being honest). Only complaint is the wasps, suggest hanging catchers. Parking it a bit tight, we prefer on green.

As a family group of 7 we called in after visiting Wimpole Hall. We received a warm friendly welcome and the food was superb. My fish melted in the mouth + the vanilla + thyme pana cotta divine! Thanks for looking after us + giving us the perfect ending to our day. Wish we were local.

Sadly food below average. A couple of years since I've eaten here not as good as I remember. Staff seemed lacking in experience
Pina colada was dreadful glass 2/3 full and didn't taste right

Good food and drinks. Menu is a little different which made it a great experience. It was a pity it appeared only one person was taking orders. The food was worth the visit. There were no long waits and no feeling of being rushed on a busy summer evening. Looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu.
