We absolutely love pizza express Ely. We come here all the time. Waitress Susan is absolutely fabulous as are all of the staff. They're always very good at accommodating my dietary needs and are extremely friendly. Food is always perfect. Very much reccomend.

Hands down the best pizza place in England, I love pizza and most places you expect a certain quality and experience but this place is the best by far. Great price for the quality, service and friendly feeling. An all round fantastic experience and very romantic atmosphere for you and your partner. We took the kids for lunch too and they had colouring crayons and paper and were very helpful with the pram etc. Staff were always smiling and we had such a great time. Can?t wait to go back and indulge again.

We had really disappointing service today which was a shame as the food was nice but service was non existent, if my children hadn?t been hungry we would have left before ordering.
We were seated fairly quickly and given menus but no one came back for over 10 minutes to take an order. We ordered drinks and food at the same time.
I enquired about the buy 1 pizza, get a second for £1 and asked if I needed the app, the waitress said no.
The food came out which was tasty and the children?s menu is a great deal. No one checked in to see if we needed anything.
I eventually got the waitresses attention to order my son?s pudding which came quickly and was nice.
10 minutes after finishing our food, I finally managed to get a waiters attention for the bill and it came with no discounts, over charging us by £15, I had to question it, he asked if I had ordered through the app then eventually took the bill away and removed the extra cost.
Waitresses were clearing tables despite having bussers and it was often taking 2 of them to decide where to seat people, lots of time wasting whilst customers were left waiting for basic service.

I had brought my family for an afternoon to Ely from
Cambridge. We decided to have dinner at pizza express. We entered and there were theee occupied tables and two waitresses. We entered and waited for about 5 minutes only to have the waitress say she will get a table ready. 10 min later we were still waiting to be seated. My 90 year of mother was standing and wanted to use the restroom and asked the white waitress ? As opposed to the Asian waitress who was busy with customers) and she expressly told me that my mother cannot use the restroom until she had seated us. We continued to wait. The line behind us was out the door. After waiting a further 5 minutes I asked for the manager after I had proceeded to walk to the chefs who were standing idly because the restaurant was empty. The manager came in and I explained he then said he has no idea why she has said that ans offered us a table. A further 7 minutes later no one came to the table and I could see the white waitress attitude. She was rude. I expected the manager to ask her to apologise to us naa take our order. No such thing. The group behind us walked away while another couple said that they live in Ely .. the pizzas are great but service is deplorable.
Very disappointing marketing for pizza express. Get better staff and train them to deal with customers!!! Send them to Cambridge city where we have respect and manners.

My wife and I arrived mid afternoon, having been around Ely for a little while and asked if there was a table available for 2 people. We were asked if we had booked, and when we said we hadn't, the member of staff just pointed to a table behind a pillar and said you can have that one. She was very rude and blunt. She didn't show us to the table, so we just sat down at it. Having had a bit of time to look about, the glasses on the table, for water, looked dirty, as did some of the cutlery.
The same member of staff that pointed to the table did come over to take our drinks order, so I ordered coffee, and my wife asked for a pomegranate sparkle. The member of staff quite bluntly just said they don't have pomegranate... no apology, just they don't have it, despite being new on the drinks menu. My wife changed her choice and did get a drink she liked.
I ordered the meatball, and my wife ordered the Christmas pizza, and when they arrived, were lovely and worth the wait. Couldn't fault the food.
Before leaving, I used the gents, and my wife went to the ladies. The gents were dated but clean, and the ladies had no toilet paper or hand wash.
Overall, nice pizzas but terrible service and facilities.
31/12/24 Update ....... despite emailing you twice, on the email you have provided, no one has been in touch, as you have stated. I can only presume your customer service is as poor as your restaurant.

Slow, really really slow service! Hardly any customers, you would think we would get great service. No chance, staff talking to each other and missing customers out!

We had a bit of a mixed experience, but overall in the end it was positive. We visited on a Tuesday afternoon, and apart from one other group, we seemed to be the only ones in there.
I think there were two members of staff, one was ?greeting? customers, but she seemed quite new and unsure of things? Which is fine, but she simply handed us our menu?s and pointed at where we should sit. We were a little annoyed at after 15 minutes or so, even though the restaurant was nearly empty, no one had even come to take a drinks order by that point.
After another 5 minutes, the other member of staff who I think was the manager on duty came to take our order. She was incredibly efficient and friendly, and couldn?t do enough to help us. I?m not sure what the other member of staff was doing, if she was just in training as she didn?t seem to be doing much.
The food came out incredibly quickly and was delicious! A big thank you to the manager for looking after us and being so friendly.
Vegetarian options: When being seated, you can request the vegan menu - there is a large range for you to choose from.

Got sat down, with a somewhat of a cold welcome.
It seemed like it was a chore to sit us down.
We then waited 20 minutes with still no drinks order or acknowledgment from any member of staff. No engagement from staff even as we got up and left out the door.

I have lived in Ely for many years but had never stepped into Pizza Express. I am a bit of a pizza snob, having lived in the south of Italy. However, the pizza was really good, as was the Peroni Gran Riserva, which I had not seen in the UK before. The downside was the waiting. It was NYE, so maybe a tad unfair, but one of our party's pizzas was cold, and we had to ask for it to revisit the forno. It could be worth returning midweek to see what the daily traffic is like.
