A beautiful and ornate cathedral. I would highly recommend the Octagon Tower tour which provides unique access to central part of the cathedral.A number of stairs are required and there are a couple of very tight doorways to navigate but the views from above are worth it. Our guide was also very knowledgeable.

Absolutely stunning building, and the lady working there was one of the nicest people ever, she offered to pay half our (three strapped for cash students) entry so we could see the Cathedral properly, but this would be too kind so we graciously rejected but the offer was so kind, wish I had her name to commend her. Overall, it'd be a great place to see.

Stunning Cathedral for those fans of religious art, architecture, or simply a fan of ceilings and doors like myself! The interior have many hidden gems of craftmaship, be sure to loook up, down and everywhere in between. You'll be amazed at the detailed carvings and tapestries. A great way to spend a few hours, expecially as there's a cafe and manicured grounds to stroll.Book the stain glass museum when open and the tower tour, but unique experiences, but they fill up fast. Also if you ever get a chance to attend an event in the space, do it! I've attended carft fairs, vintage clothing markets, and a silent disco in the space. each was a unique way to enjoy such a stunning piece of the country's extensive history.

We have visited Ely Cathedral several times in the past. After seeing a post on a social media platform advertising a light show, we decided to go and see it.It was amazing to see the Cathedral in a "new light" haha. It's a place not to miss if you are in Ely or nearby. There are several events and activities over the year.

Although a magnificent building I felt very disappointed when I called there today. With our 2 x 5 year old non local grandchildren we planned to have drinks and snacks in the cafe inside the cathedral that we have used many times before. As we approached the cathedral one of the grandchildren became desperate for the toilet which we ask her to try and wait. At the ticket desk we asked about the cafe but were told it was now elsewhere. We asked if we could use the toilet and were abruptly told to use the public ones or pay £14 to go into the cathedral. Not very Christened considering the age of the child. Also it would have been lovely to have look for the embroidery hassock my dec?d mum made but to pay £28 was too much. This is written by a person who was confirmed by a previous Bishop of Ely.

Stunning cathedral

One of the largest cathedrals in Britain, in one of the smallest cities. Very impressive stonework, beautifully decorated ceilings.I regret not having made time to join a tour - or the Tower tour, which must be booked in advance on the Internet. However, the tickets you buy are valid for a year, if you ask at the point of sale.

Amazing building, ticket price is a little steep at £14 when you can go in Norwich cathedral for free

Ely Cathedral was spectacular, the Gothic architecture was stunning. Also the price is reasonable for visiting. Interior was beautiful and breathtaking, would definitely recommend to visit and have a little wonder around the magical place. There is very nice souvenir shop inside.

Amazing Cathedral, well worth a visit if you are passing through Ely. I would recommend taking the tour to go up the Octagon which is an additional £10 (£20pp total) rather than going to see the stained glass as that was £5pp and a bit lacklustre.

Welcome to Ely Cathedral. I've never visited this part of England before, but have longed to see Ely Cathedral, aka The Ship of the Fens. (Those who know their Pink Floyd albums will know why it's called that.) And as I drove closer it did appear as a huge ship on the horizon. The cathedral is amazing for so many reasons, but most remarkably for its octagon tower.Alas, I had no time to explore the ancient city, but I did manage a quick walk around the UK's only museum dedicated to stained glass, housed up in the gallery above the nave's south aisle. This allows the visitor to view parts of the cathedral high up.Naturally, the cathedral itself has some superb windows, but the museum has some exquisite examples from all over the UK and from Europe, covering all periods. Could have stayed longer but time was pressing, light was fading, and I still had a ninety-minute drive ahead of me.
