Thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Menu. Friendly welcome and good service. We had the Christmas Menu which is 3 courses for £21.95 had to be ordered in advance but that was not a problem. Good choice and food cooked well and also good quality. Especially enjoyed the brandy sauce on the Christmas pudding. Will definitely eat here again.

Was welcomed with a warm heart and smile given the feel that was only felt in a homely environment. The food was just as good as mother cooked and the atmosphere was of one that made me feel great joy and happiness

I don?t normally leave negative reviews but it was unusually bad! The chips were completely soaked in oil and inedible & gammon steak was tiny. Prawn cocktail came out without any sauce. Roast dinner was just frozen potatoes, boiled tasteless veg and what tasted like microwaved beef. All the food took a long while to come out. We did worry when we were the only table in for a Sunday roast!

You try and choose local venue's to support local businesses but never again here. The table was tacky and not cleaned and the toilet had mould on the wall. To be fair the younger barman tried to be helpful but lacked training. The food was adequate at best and being told "no they didn't have any sauce at all" for the food was bizarre and nor believable, just an excuse not to help. The loud guy, assume he was the Landlord was just rude and just seemed to want to play court with a couple. Every one of our group sad he was one of the most unpleasant people encountered and should never work in this environment. When we came to pay there was a real reluctance to give us our change, like we were expected to tip, directly after the so called landlord saying very loudly that he doesn't like people sitting around in the restaurant after their meals when the coffee had only just arrived. Spend your money elsewhere

Booked in advance as requested, we shared a lovely meal. Nicely prepared and presented complete with Christmas Crackers. Accompanied by one of the nicest real ales in the area, called unsuprisingly Anchor Ale. Not the first time we have eaten here and we never leave dissatisfied. We shall be back in a couple of weeks for another meal. Thank you to the Chef and staff who make a visit to this pub very enjoyable

Great Sunday lunch in a friendly and dog-friendly local that's spick and span. A delight ?

Always a warm welcome from the landlord at the Anchor.Great food and a wonderful menu full of choice, with a varied selection of specials and even take away pizza!Great drinks selection, ales and lagers. Good space, wonderful beer garden, nice street side tables. All in all the Anchor is everything a village pub should be.Walkability: Great village pub ideal for a stop off in the middle of a circular walk.Food & drinks: Always well prepared, tasty and a menu full of choice.

We were staying in the area and went into the Anchor Inn for some food. The only good thing we can say is the pub has been renovated and was nice inside. We arrived at 19:05 on a Saturday evening, the barman was sitting drinking with others and there was two people dining in the restaurant. We asked if they were doing food which the barman said he wasn't sure and would have to ask the kitchen as they were closing! We got our drinks and sat down, the barman then came over 5 mins later and said if you want food order it now but your going to have to be quick....This is the point were we should have left however there wasn't anywhere in walking distance that we knew of. The food arrived and it was ok nothing special. The guy serving us didn't talk and the barman was rude and obnoxious.
