The good stuff - the food is pretty good, perhaps a little expensive even for Cambridge. The staff were friendly and courteous.
The bad stuff - the restaurant is cold, I am not a fan of wearing a coat in doors. My wife ended up in a coat and scarf, and my daughter kept a woolly hat on all meal. The service was initially spot on, but on finishing the main meal we waited 20 mins. We gave up and ordered desert on the app. After another 20 mins I asked if we could get the deserts and they were brought promptly.
The restaurant is tired with holes in the plaster work, and does not feel clean.

Really disappointing. We arrived at 8:10 (the restaurant closes at 10pm), to a staff member informing us "the pizza chef leaves in 5 minutes, so you gotta order the pizzas NOW". We order the pizzas, which arrive cold (? despite the chef rushing to leave?). Drinks and starters all come after the pizzas (which "had to be ordered NOW"). The bit of the party that wanted things other than pizzas wait for another 30 minutes for their mains. The restaurant is only about 20% busy..
Then, folks at the next table start ordering and receiving a bunch of pizzas, about 45 minutes after we were told the chef is leaving (those guys were already at the table when we arrived?). I asked a waiter and she said they "pre-ordered" (?).
Just a really strange, chaotic time. We've been coming here for years and it's really been going downhill. A pity..

The building is stunning and central. The server did ask about allergies which was excellent service.
Drinks were served fast, no starters just main and sides. I am a Vegetarian and there are a few options, I went for Pizza. Now it came out cold, I don't mean the toppings, the base was freezing. So I did have to ask for it to be warmed up. At this point it was taken away and returned, warmer but not warm and now with wilted veg and soggy cold base.
I can say I have only ever returned the meal once
before, we did offer to pay for it, but the server kindly removed it from the bill. What's more annoying is the place was quiet so no excuse.
There are so many food options in town, I would find one, and to our lovely server I hope you find a new establishment to work at as you are lost there.

Although the food & service were good, we waited for about 45 mins between starter and main (not great when 4 of your party are young kids). When the mains arrived 2 were missing, so had to be reordered. They did come fairly quickly, but looked rushed compared to the others.
Other than that, the Tiramisu was still a bit frozen & the Warm Chocolate Melt was cold!
I suspect the kitchen was understaffed.
Not the worst experience ever, but enough to make me think twice about going back.

Absolutely disgusting! My wife and I booked a table at Zizzi's, Bene't St, Cambridge prior to attending a show. We were shown to our table which was in front of the open kitchen area and near to the door where the staff enter to take the dirty dishes and cutlery etc. The door was fully open and we could see that all the dirty plates and cutlery were strewn all over the floor in the corridor, some in green 'Tesco delivery style' crates, some on the floor. There was also rubbish on the floor too, looked like a rubbish bag had been split open and the rubbish just left and ignored. Not only was the rubbish in the corridor, it was in the restaurant side and in front of the disabled toilet door which is to the left of the kitchen door. Staff were just walking all over it. We even saw a member of the kitchen staff retrieve a plate or dish from the dirty pile on the floor and take it back to the kitchen.....Needless to say we didn't order any food! When we approached 2 members of staff about the issue, one lied to us stating that there wasn't any plates etc on the floor in the corridor and the other told us it was just and exceptionally busy day!!! The restaurant was nearly empty bar about 4 tables of people. Needless to say we will never eat in a Zizzi's again and will be reporting this to the local authority H&H dept for routine inspections to be carried out!!!

Henry was one of the best servers I?ve had in the four years I?ve been here in the UK. He was very accommodating and professional. The food was good as well but it was Henry who made this visit worth it
