Delicious Indian food.

The Curry Queen is not the most appealing restaurant on first impressions; looking a little run-down and shabby. But...
Inside, it is a small well appointed place with proper linen and an extensive authentic menu.
The food is excellent, and plentiful, rating up in the top 5 of our league table of Indian restaurants and we have eaten in a lot!
Service was quick, the waiters pleasant and not obsequious; maybe a little rushed but there were a large number of pre-booked tables that followed us.
On the whole, excellent and heartily recommended

The Curry Queen on Mill Road, with its gregarious and welcoming manager DeeJay is an absolute gem of a restaurant. I have dined here several times as a couple, with family, with friends and with colleagues. Curry Queen is the perfect juxtaposition to the many overly pretentious alternative curryhouses in Cambridge. There is no nonsense here, no small plates that are all garnish. No sir! Here everything is authentic and classic, timeless, old school and above all else delicious! The Manager DeeJay rules the roost in his habitat here and I am always impressed by his attention to detail and commitment to exceptional service. I wholeheartedly recommend the Curry Queen, especially in these cost-concious times and urge you to give them a try!
DeeJay, all the best mate, you and your team deserve it!

I have just visited the CQ with my wife for about the hundredth time, having been a regular customer for the past forty years. Both my wife and I are members of large Cambridge families who have entertained groups of up to twenty or more in your restaurant over the years. Tonight unfortunately, we felt as though we were cheated after we?d had another excellent meal and called for the bill. I studied the bill as I always do, which came to £68 plus pence, which seemed about right for the modest meal we?d had. I assumed service was included as the last item on the bill was labelled SEC £6.20 which I took to indicate ?Service Charge?. Printed at the bottom of this bill was the line ?Service charge is not included with the word ?not? very clearly crossed out. When your front of house waiter presented the card machine he asked me to present my card which jumped to a total of £80 literally as I presented the card. The machine and bill were quickly taken away and I was left in some state of shock that my long standing favourite curry house in Cambridge had suddenly cheated me. I have no receipt nor a copy of the bill to substantiate my claim, but I have to say that even to suddenly add £12 to my bill after service seemed already to have been charged leaves a very uncomfortable feeling. I doubt that we shall be returning to The Curry Queen unless you are able to somehow restore my faith in your integrity, and I would therefore reluctantly encourage friends and family in Cambridge to look elsewhere when wanting a curry too. Having read other recent reviews it is clear that my experience is not unusual.. (I sent this to the email service advertised on the CQ?s website but as I got no positive response I?m posting my letter here)

Hands down the best Indian I?ve had. Went there with my family, the service was great and we felt really welcome as we never felt rushed and everyone was always friendly attentive. We ordered a tandoori lamb biryani, a tandoori naga chicken curry, daal, naan, vegetable curry. Our host was so generous and gave us a complimentary salad on the house. All our dishes were excellent and piping hot, you could tell they are all their original recipes as the recipes were bold, full of flavors and well balanced. The daal was my favorite, it felt like having a warm hug from an auntie as soon as I tried it (beautiful strong smoky garlic and ghee notes). The biryani was another star. If you like a hot curry don?t hesitate to try the naga curry, it?s fruity and hot! We can?t wait to go back!

I ordered food from here and the estimated delivery time was 6:55pm-7:15pm. I called the restaurant as the food had not showed up and they told me the food was leaving the restaurant which is 5 minutes away from my house. At 7:45pm I called back as the food still hadn?t arrived to be told it?s on its way. I then called back at 8:12pm as it had been 55 minute since the latest arrival for delivery, that?s without the wait time for the food to be prepared. I then got told they tried to knock and call and no one answered. I never received a call and I was sat in my living room by my front door and no one knocked. The restaurant then told me the food would be here in 15 minutes and if it?s cold to call them. The delivery driver arrived and said he had called but could not get through. Although, they apologised the person on the phone was very dismissive reassuring me the food was on the way when I genuinely at that point didn?t believe it was. There is no way I could have missed them knocking I was sitting in my living room by the front door and received no missed calls. I felt this was an extremely fustrating and disappointing experience.

This has been the worst delivery i?ve ever had. We ordered butter chicken, mushroom rice, egg fried rice, aloo chat puri and aloo gobi bhaji. The butter chicken was sweeter than honey with a ton of butter and fine desiccated coconut in it. The mushroom rice felt like as if it was given a coating of garam masala. And the aloo gobi and aloo chat puri was literally as sour as a lemon. Never getting back.

Stay away if you want to save yourselves from the hidden cost aka service charge. They will offer things you might feels like complimentary but in the end they charge for it. Also they don't provide any invoices, they hand write their own. Avoid

The Manager was trying to fraud us by adding things that we didn?t order, he was trying to fool us and fraud us with the things that we didnt order and at the end he denied giving a proper bill and gave a handwritten receipt on top of that he argued about the service charge that its a legal tender and that its compulsion to pay the service charge,
This rude behaviour of the Manager DK (the bald guy)
made our visit very unpleasant and therefore I would never recommend any one to go here.

We were in search of a spicy desi karhayi when we came across this place. Ambiance was good with silence all around. We were treated with starter poppadoms with 4 different type of chatni.
We ordered their Curry queen special and Chicken Korayi.
Curry special was sweeter than we expected, maybe their signature bengali dish, but chicken korayi was better.
Bill was a mit messy with not understandable handwriting, but we paid the slightly over priced bill because we were getting late for our bus.
Overall an Okayish experience.

We ordered and waited for one hour only. The order didn't arrive and when we called them we were told it will take another hour. We eventually got the food and it was cold, tasted bad and really poor portions. I would never order from them again, very poor service, we were told it wasn't their fault!
