Customer service was really uncomfortable. I checked into my appointment about 5 minutes before my slot, and patiently waited for about 15/20 minutes past my appointment. I noticed others were being serviced before me, but I figured it was a scheduling thing. I didn?t expect the receptionist to completely forget I checked in!
After waiting for a prolonged period, I asked if there was something wrong with my appointment and the receptionist asked if I had an appointment for today???? And what my name was??
If you?ve been to Elem hair, you know that there?s about a meter of distance between the receptionist and waiting area.
It was nearly the end of the day, so all the hair stylists and helpers were just congregated at reception, watching TikTok?s or being on instagram.
As a woman of color, it was a most unpleasant experience to say the least. I know the girls are doing their best, but talk about being invisible!
It?s worth noting that this was my first time visiting here, and I did have a coupon. Perhaps my discount influenced the service I received. My hair cut was okay, it wasn?t great ? and I was too embarrassed to ask for more framing. Just wanted to leave!
I wasn?t sure about posting this, but I wanted to share this experience in case others also received similar treatment in the future.

I had Maddie give me a shorter haircut after much back and forth with myself about going shorter!! She put me ease and kept me chatting the whole way through and made me feel so so comfortable, I love my new shorter hair, and I will definitely come back. Thank you Maddie, also every other staff member I spoke to while I was in there were very helpful and friendly, can't fault in any way!

Edit for a response: I don't know what social media posts are being refered to as it seems she's just posting her work with no reference to you. I havent had a hair cut since last June which was done by her, then I jad 1 cut from you giys and even though I tipped, which is perfectly reasonable for someone who works hard, she didnt want to give me layers which is what I requested because she thought it would thin my hair out. I've had layers since I was a teenager and it has always added body and movement to my hair. It was flat and still felt lile I needed a cut when I left. I went back to Faye and that speaks volumes. Id rather travel to her instead.
I used to love this place while Faye was there. I tried them after she left and was incredibly disappointed. Found Faye again and now I look and feel amazing. They lost their asset. Sad.

I had an amazing experience at Elem hair.
I went in for a haircut and blow dry. My stylist Katie was amazing, she made my hair look better than I had hoped for, really listened to the brief and made sure I was happy.
She was so lovely to chat to I was almost sad when the appointment came to an end! She delivered amazing results in a short time and at a really fair price.
My new go-to hairdressers in Cambridge.

First time trying a hairdresser in Cambridge and Hien has absolutely smashed it out of the park! No need to try anywhere else - the amount of precision in her work is incredible! Will be back to see horn again!

I got a cut and blow-dry and the stylist (Alice) achieved exactly the look I wanted. She did a fantastic job on my hair and I highly recommend! I will definitely be coming here again!

I visited Elem hair Cambridge seeing the good reviews... I am totally DISAPPOINTED!
I asked for a balayage and to be very blonde, I showed a photo. When I left the salon, I had to pay £99 without any treatment to end up with no change in colour? (fortunately I had the new customer discount) I was still a brunette but a little lighter than before. It was not at all what I had asked for... I will never go back, I do not recommend it!

EDIT: the salon owner Justin reached out to me and kindly offered me a complimentary cut and blow dry with another stylist, Alice who was absolutely wonderful. Really impressed with this service, which was completely different to ny prior experience. Would happily book in with Alice again. Thank you :)
Had a wash cut and blow dry booked which also included a deep conditioning treatment with a director stylist (Faye) and have never been treated with such disdain in my life. She tugged at my hair aggressively when brushing and when I couldn?t keep my head still, scolded me like I was a child saying she can?t cut my hair if I can?t keep still. No offer of tea or coffee. No deep conditioning treatment. Layers not blended in. Didn?t bother making conversation. Will never return here. Save yourself the trouble and spend a few extra pounds to go to Elaje round the corner.

Been going to Elem for a couple of years now. Always had Kim as my stylist who is fantastic but I decided to have extensions. So now I two exceptional stylists. Shane does my extensions and Kim keeps my colour sharp. Would highly recommend both. Great service, advice and very lovely company. Here is todays result before and after.????
