The phlebotomy department is not fit for purpose for this great hospital. It lets it down so badlyIt took hours to get bloods taken. It is too small and at dinner times down to maybe 1 person bleeding - no one comes to replace or take over. When we left as #75, it had taken over 2½ hours from #54. And some people had been give #27 so they were probably there for longer than us.

I do not recommend . I had stomach pains, bleeding for a week, I felt weak. They didn't do an ultrasound, nothing, except they felt my belly and concluded that everything is fine, there is no cause for concern, they didn't give me any treatment. A few months ago I underwent an intervention on the cervix and I could not sit still, I knew that something was wrong. They left me like this, I have to go urgently to Romania to be treated there and to be given a treatment because I'm still bleeding and it's not normal. If it turns out that it is something serious because it was not given importance, I will go and make a further complaint. It's about my health, and telling me that everything is normal without a thorough check-up is not possible. To leave without treatment, nothing, in the conditions where I was bleeding and still bleeding with pelvic pain!

AVOID WARD A4!!My mum was transferred to Addenbrooks hospital on 28/09/23 after she suffered a subarachnoid brain haemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm. The care she received by the neurological critical care team was amazing, and they quite literally saved her life. However, when mum was transferred to ward A4 (The Neuro Surgery Ward) things instantly went from bad to worse. The care on this ward is far from an adequate standard. I would go as far to say it is neglectful and my concern for future patients like my mum is what has inspired me to write this review. This ward failed my mum on so many levels and it has caused a lot of stress and anxiety on myself and all my family during an already immensely stressful time. This ward fails to communicate with family members, doctors are nowhere to be seen unless you manage to catch them on their rounds early morning, which wasn't possible for myself or my family due to being several hours from the hospital. You can try and catch a nurse, but often they are nowhere to be seen or too busy chatting/laughing with a colleague. Even when you successfully grab the attention of a nurse, the majority of them are short and unempathetic to concerns, nor do they take them seriously. The staff on the ward fail to meet basic needs of their patients. My mum was often left without a bed bath for several days at a time, causing her to smell and get uncomfortable rashes due to lack of hygiene. She was taken off IV fluids/nutrition, but the ward failed to help her to eat or drink when she didn't have the capacity to do so herself. As a result of this, my mother got a terrible bladder infection, she was in agonising pain to the point she was crying out. She was left like this for a whole WEEK and by the end of that week her catheter bag was full of blood and our mum became very withdrawn and exhausted from all the pain. At this point, we demanded once again that she is given antibiotics and around 4 hours later they finally hooked her up, Within 24 hours her urine cleared up and she was looking better, but the question remains as to why they left her like it for a week despite all our concerns and her obvious levels of pain. Another absolute fail is how this ward does not listen to dietary requirements of their patients, despite telling the catering staff and the nurses several times, my mum continued to be served meat. My mum has been a vegetarian for 35 years so consequently this caused her more confusion and a decline in appetite as mum was aware of the texture in her mouth and although she wasn't able to voice it, you could see the distress this caused her at meal times. Thankfully she managed to find the words to tell me they had been giving her meat and i spoke to them once again about her being vegetarian. Her lunches continued to consist of meat after this and we even witnessed it during our visits and often had to exchange her meal with other (lovely) patients on the ward. These issues are just some of the issues we experienced on this ward. Aswell as the lack of communication, not meeting basic needs and delays in treatment, many of the staff here seem to rough handle their patients and lack empathy towards patient understanding/ discomfort/pain. When the patient is In a critical state they still only check on them to do observations every 4 hours despite dangerous vitals and major warning signs. Mum has since been moved to a different NHS hospital, where she arrived with no notes from ward A4, we had to tell the nurse what had happened to her as they wasn?t aware. The care seems absolutely incredible here on the new ward, but really, this level of care is just what she should have had to begin with. Fortunately this ward has restored mine and my families faith in the NHS. In the time mum was on ward A4 we spoke to other patients who were not happy with the standard of care they were receiving from this ward. PALS were informed of our concerns as they arose, but care didn't improve. A formal complaint is being made.

Avoid this neglectful hospital, my grandmother has been a patient here in ward A4 for neurological injury and she has been neglected by the staff on ward A4. She is not completely conscious so fully relies on these nurses for around the clock care. She is not able to drink for majority of the day so you would expect she would be on some sort of IV drip or feeding tube, absolutely nothing. She's had blood in her urine for the past week! We've been begging the nurses and doctors to do something and they have done nothing until I've arrived yesterday kicking off at them. I've tried to get PALS involved who are completely useless and have done nothing and I have a formal complaint in process. The other patients I have spoken to have also experienced the same neglect. My grandmother is never repositioned, she has a rash where she's never washed until we asked them to wash her, she had bed sores, she's in pain but never has pain killers given to her unless we ask. They do not check her observations, I've had to plug the machine in myself and take her blood pressure myself, they ignored when she had rapid breathing and misdiagnosed her saying she had a chest infection without doing any tests which turned out to be an infection on the brain. Everything is a wait, getting anything prescribed takes at least a day, whenever my nan has been moved back into ward A4, her health deteriorates. Its absolutely shocking and disgusting. There are so many more things I can write but unfortunately you'll be here all day reading it! This case will definitely be going to the ombudsman as this ward needs investigating!

I can highly recommend this hospital. It is very organised, the staff are both helpful and friendly and go out of their way to provide the best possible experience. The medical staff are highly professional and go the extra mile. The my Chart app allows patients to keep track of their entire history, prescriptions, blood tests, appointments, letters etc. This is the way a hospital should be run.

My experience with Addenbrooke's hospital was very mixed but this is the main hospital I go to with regards to my cochlear implant, the operation itself was fine but I had to fight with the nurse to not allow students to be present during my operation because my operation was very high risk due to my condition. I was then given medication that turned out I was alergic to and I was left to deal with it on my own. I do have to say though their audiology department is wonderful and are great with dealing with my enquiries and helping me on my cochlear implant journey.

Do Not go on to ward A4 !!! Neglected my daughter was not washed for 6 Day sat in poo. Was starved she didn't eat anything threatened with a feeding tube but no staff there to help her with eating washing administered medication wrong with her she had blood and pain with her catheter and ended pulling it out her self because no one would help .I needed to get her out of there ASAP!!!!! A4 is NOT A SAFE WARD! She is now Traumatised and does not ever want to go up there again but unfortunately she got discharged before she was okay after being chucked out of her bed and made to wait 24hrs in the day room for tablets to be discharged withdrawn from every medication and no food or drink again bearing in mind she couldn't walk talk or ask for help.....all this happened after major brain surgery. Honestly don't know what to do with her or how to try and get her better no care plan after discharge but can't even walk see it hear talk eat anything.

Just returned from an appointment in the Endocrinology department, clinic 32. They were brilliant.I?ve been to many appointments in several different hospitals over the years with my disabled daughter. This appointment and testing stands out as being one of the easiest appointments we?ve had. They were efficient, competent, accommodating, listened, nothing fazed them, totally disabled friendly.

My interactions with staff, doctors, and nurses have been nothing but positive. I am visiting someone in the neuroscience critical care unit. The Nurses are absolutely brilliant. In my opinion, they earn every penny they get and deserve at least twice what they get, if not more.

My wife waited nearly two hours just for two bottles of already prescribed medicine, which was quite frustrating. They kept saying they were checking it. If possible, it's best to avoid coming here.

My daughter was on ward D5 a couple of months ago recieving palative care and she was looked after so well by all the staff. They even allowed me to stay with her during her last couple of weeks. A big thank you to all the staff you do a fantastic job.

I am shocked by their A&E. When I came with my illness, all I received was: 1. Nurses with rude attitudes, asking me to go to their GP; 2. Staff with disdainful looks, treating a patient poorly; 3. Long waits without any substantial help, feeling like the patient's arrival was a waste of medical resources, and even mocking the patient.

Thank you to the woman who I phoned at reception for a&e at 13:38 on the 26th July 2023 who laughed and scoffed at me for asking a very fair question. Your pay is funded by your patients? taxes please remember that.

I had day surgery for my grommets insertion in both ears. Although a long wait I didn't mind because I desperately wanted to get it sorted. Everyone I met was welcoming kind and took great care of me. In particular, Anita who wheeled me to surgery, all the team in theatre who did the op, Claire who looked after me when I can round and Elizabeth on L2 who had a brilliant sense of humour. Please make sure you they see this. Thank you to all of you.

This review is regarding appointment cancellations and does not reflect on the excellent service from Physio or the fracture support team. A clinic appointment to discuss surgery, suggested by consultant, has been cancelled 5 times. I have now been informed that it is not possible for them to rebook the appointment. If at anytime in the future it is feasible I will be contacted. Was told that this surgery was necessary and now I'm just shelved. Dismayed, disappointed disillusioned.
