Only got 3 star hygiene certificate. If you think this is generally satisfactory is open to discussion. Maybe people might be tempted when you get a 5. You seem with your remarks to be happy with a 3. Most Resturants are proud to get a five.

Very happy to have found this place in passing by. Low key, pleasant service. We sat out the back in the sun.Dietary restrictions: Said I don't eat bread, so she cooked me bacon (nice and crispy) and egg, with salad.

My recent visit to James? Kitchen was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Despite being an established business, the food quality was abysmal. What's more concerning was the lack of hygiene practices observed, particularly when the server, without washing their hands, retrieved cheese from an area that seemed to be the back garden before returning to handle food in the kitchen. This disregard for basic hygiene, along with the disappointing 'tuna mayo panini' I ordered, left me regretting my decision to give this place a try. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant also fell short, with dirty crockery and tables further detracting from the experience. In hindsight, I should have saved my money and dined elsewhere.*Edit*Good afternoon,Thank you for taking the time to respond to my review.While I appreciate the information about the backup fridge and freezer, and the placement of the food hand wash basin, I still observed a concerning lapse in hygiene practices during my visit. Regardless of the location of the hand wash basin, it's essential that staff adhere to proper handwashing protocols, especially when handling food items after being outside the kitchen area.I'm glad to hear that your paninis and toasties typically receive positive reviews. However, my experience with the 'tuna mayo panini' was unfortunately not satisfactory, which prompted my feedback.As for the issue of dirty tables and crockery, I understand that busy times can make it challenging to maintain cleanliness promptly. Lovely little cafe. Very polite and friendly hostess. It is a limited menu but the egg and bacon butty I had was ?. Only criticism I would have is it was not very warm in there.Parking: There is ofter space on the road out front. But there is also a large carpark round the back then you can come in the back way

Popped in for a quick coffee in-between appointments. Lady was attentive and I only had a cappuccino. Was probably the best one I've had a long time. Didn't eat. Lovely little place. Will definitely pop in again.

Unfortunately looking at previous photos, this place is now "unkempt". However the service was polite. Just a shame as the place could be so much more.

Good coffee. We had a jacket potato with tuna melt for lunch. Friendly service. Sit inside or out. Bikes can be parked in the garden round the back. Access from the car park.

A lazy cafe......soggy toastie, slow being served but no apology offered, badly unkept garden, rusty old waste bin in toilet, old toilet rolls lying around. Disappointing as this could be a really nice little cafe with some effort.

Went for a decent coffee, asking for 2 flat whites, but got given 2 mugs of coffee with a tiny bit of frothed milk on top. Effectively, it was a white americano. Tasted weak and didn't finish it. Huge disappointment. So went to the Co-op and got a machine coffee instead.
