My wife and I have been trying out local restaurants for several years now. This weekend we finally made our way to The Astor Grill at Cliveden House.
We've had a few of those small starters, my wife had the beef rib and I had the sirloin on the bone
We were bitterly disappointed. The food is not worth the high price tag. The steak was overcooked, tough, and some of the sides were a bit bland.
There are several Michelin Star places in the area for a much more better value.
Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.
However, despite the food, the staff were lovely.

The menu is imaginative and the food is good but not exceptional. The stables ambience is nice & the service was appropriate to Cliveden. But we didn?t feel that any of this justifies the very high prices. Whilst each dish on it?s own is not excessively priced, when you add in £7 for a bottle of sparkling water, £7 for a coffee, extra £ for sides, £13-£20 for a 175ml of admittedly nice wine it all adds up considerably

We were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday and had the best time! The Astor Grill wasn't what I was expecting but actually worked out much better than I expected. It felt like a much more cosy and intimate space. The staff were impeccable and truly made our experience even better. They all took exceptionally good care of us and definitely went over and above to make us feel special. It didn't hurt that the food was lovely and the menu was diverse enough to suit everybody.
I would happily recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a slightly less formal setting than the main house to enjoy a wonderful meal. The Astor Grill will definitely be a place we will return too. Thank you.

We went to this restaurant for lunch with some friends. The place is beautiful, with a pleasant atmosphere and excellent service. However, the price-quality ratio of the food is not balanced. The dishes are good, but nothing outstanding, especially considering the high prices. You're paying more for the ambiance than for the quality of the food.

Great little restaurant. Loved all the touches that remind you that this used to be the stables for this great house. Food came out quickly. Service was relaxed but attentive. We got got bites and drinks and it was perfect.

Absolutely amazing experience!
The food is delicious, with a varied menu that kept me struggling to pick even after 4(!) meals here.
The team are exceptional though - so warm, welcoming, attentive, passionate and good humoured.
In particular, their interaction with our children (particularly Sasha) made our trip, and resulted in us visiting so many times over such a short period.
I?d like to wholeheartedly thank the entire team - particularly Francisco, Yana, Mark, Davey and Harvey. You gave us a very special few days, that will never be forgotten!
We?re a 3 hour drive away, but due to the fantastic experience at the Astor Grill, we?re already planning a return!!
Dietary restrictions: They provide excellent allergen information, and were knowledgeable and supportive of getting us what we wanted without lactose / nuts etc

Amongst more than 500 hotels around the globe, and more than 2000 restaurants that I have dined into, this restaurant was by far the worst dining experience I have had
A gentleman with a tie (didn?t even ask for his name), that has been serving us (a group of 7 guests), with complete unprofessional and rude behavior
During the middle of having our meals have asked him for fries (just fries), his answer approx. was:
You must wait, cause their are other orders need to be served and when done, we can bring you the fries ??
For 55 minutes waiting and then served the fires?.. cold!!
No apologies?.no sorry?.no humbleness?zero humility
Needless to mention, rest of the guests food was just moderate
I regret, I lost my time doing it!

Beautiful grand country house and gardens that are worth splurging on to stay at especially if you can get the 3 nights for 2 deals they offer. Restaurant is a let down as food is boring and pricey.

I drove all the way from north London for lunch , we had a nice walk and then went for lunch. The food was good , the champagne was cold and bubbly. The staff very courteous and friendly.
The problem was that I was told to get inside the hotel you have to pay 10 pounds ! This is unheard of anywhere in the world.
I stayed in luxury hotels in Europe and usa and never heard that

Great food with excellent service and atmosphere, nicely tucked away in Cliveden House this small restaurant boasts a great menu selection perfect for a cozy night out. The mood was really charming and we loved the intimate setting.

See dietary restrictions belowDietary restrictions: Don't go if you want to avoid gluten. There's almost nothing. In the regular main courses not a single dish. For a starter crudités. I just ate some olives. Main course available was tuna which was the only option, it was good but what if you don't want fish? What if you are entertaining for business there? There was one dessert or cheeses for GF. Staff were pleasant but the lack of options is years behind current standards and totally inadequate, particularly at this level of style and price. Completely thoughtless and contrary to the notion of hospitality. Every diner should have a choice of at minimum two dishes each course. Plenty of places manage this since it's not even difficult with a little planning.
